The selection commitee proved to be a total joke by placing the #3 and #5 teams in a matchup so early. Neither received a top 8 national seed. In fact, to get to the final 4, this bracket would likely have to win at UCLA and then North Carolina.

On the other hand, Nebraska who was not ranked in the top 25 going into the weekend, received a favorable draw with Villanova, Yale, and Hartford.

Outrageous!

The following teams got flat out screwed...

and Texas A&M

Most soccer fans had UCLA as the number 2 or 3 seeds, A&M 4, and Texas hosting a first and second round game.

I will be at the games this weekend and already have my plane tickets for the UNC weekend. I sure hope it is UNC vs. A&M but beating UCLA will be incredibly hard.

Zippy, my wife graduated from Carolina and teaches at A&M...Just curious as to where the "Go Heels" comes from on your side...

My sister starts at Right Halfback for them.

Only time I would ever root against the Aggies. Actually at the game in Houston another Aggie saw my ring and gave me a go to hell look. I had on a sky blue shirt and carolina hat with an aggie ring.

Those pairings are ridiculous. unc and stanford basically walk into the third round while A&M has to kock off tu. I thought we had a chance to meet in the finals this year. Utter nonsense. What exactly were they thinking?

I did a little more research. Pepperdine beat Santa Clara and Portland to win the WCC. The West Virgina pick is out of left field though.

OK, so A&M and tu play Sunday and the loser is done for the season, correct??

Why do you say that? I've seen A&M play unc and play them well. We have the talent the coaching and the heart to compare with any team in the country. A&M was ranked as high as #3 this year. We belong among the elite teams in the NCAA and did not deserve to be paired in the same round as a highly ranked team from our own conference. The whole point of tourney play is to match teams from around the country that do not meet during the regular season. Why pit the best two teams in the conference against one another in the early rounds? Makes no sense...

If A&M gets to the final 8, I am sorry to tell you this but they have no chance in Chapel Hill. UNC is playing some of the best soccer in the nation right now. They romped through the ACC tournament shuting out all their opponents while putting up 15 goals in three games. It will be thanksgiving weekend, which traditionally draws the largest crowd of the year in woman's soccer. They are the fittest team in the nation and have a majority of the top talent.

As for A&M soccer, they are much improved and have stopped playing the duck and cover soccer that got them so many 1-0 losses. I see them advancing this weekend and heading out to LA. The game against UCLA could go either way but I give the advantage to UCLA due to it being at home.

chapel schmill is over rated. They played a weak schedule this year and will only make it into the elite eight due to thier favorable BIASED) draw. The Fightin Texas Aggies will dispatch them readily in route to a National Championship.

First off the ACC is alot tougher than the Big 12

Second they played Stanford, Portland, Washington, Nebraska, Texas, A&M

They are the second best team in the country and they beat the number one team early in the season. Of course they should have an eaiser first two rounds than Texas A&M

Plus winning 17 of the last 20 National Championships and never missing the final four is not overated. It is actual production!

btw... my little 11 month old girl has already started kicking a soccer ball... if she's as good of athlete as her mom... look out!

It has narrowed but any player at UNC would start at any other school and probably star. A great example is Kim Patrick of Tenn. She transfered after her sophmore year from UNC and not getting any playing time. She is probably the best player in the SEC now. Every year they bring in 5 of the top 10 players in the nation. Anson takes that natural skill molds it around the same system he developed for the national team and makes them the most physically fit team in the nation. With so much talent and conditioning they can afford to go all out for 90 minutes.

I don't doubt they are a great team, but these two statements really stood out to me as being in direct conflict -- makes me think the second one may be a bit of an exaggeration.

They are seeded second that is why I made that statement. Of course they did beat Stanford, who is number one.

MissusZippy, Please go over to the NC board and stay. Anybody who pulls against the AGS should go elsewhere.

Everybody in soccer knows that NC for years had the upper hand in recruiting due to the NC coach picking and coaching the national teams. I believe the rules have changed now . Dont throw up that old 17 for 20 stuff. It is changing - and for the BETTER!

Dont blame you for backing your sister but do it on her school's board. THIS board is for Aggie soccer supporters.

If you read the entire thread, you will see that I support A&M soccer. I will be at every game this weekend and yelling as hard as I can for the Aggies. Don't call me out because I root for another team 100% of the time and A&M 99.9% of the time.
