The Aggies were so lucky this year in avoiding the injury bug. But from what I saw yesterday our win over SMU came at a price. Anyone have any info as to the extent of the injuries to our players? Amanda Burke and Julie Goin went down hard. Maybe Martha Moore also? Another question......What would have happened if we had tied SMU on the penalty kicks?...Thanks in advance!

If a shootout is tied after 5 rounds, they go to sudden-death PKs. The shootout ends as soon as one team scores, and the other does not. It might only be one more round, but it might be several more.

The injuries are tough to take heading into the UCLA match. The season had gone so well in that respect. Martha at least was standing during overtime, so that's probably a good sign.

Hey, firstrowcenter! Any chance I could get a dub of the '97 Big 12 final you have on tape?

BTHO UCLA!!!

I officiated soccer (including at the NCAA level) for years and I still believe PK's to be an absolutely ridiculous way to determine the winner of a soccer match.

That being said, I've also not ever seen a high level match where the winning team only hit 3 of their PK's in a shootout.

OK, aggiesoccer#1fan, I have a friend who can tape my tape.....I need an email address.....By the way...At the game Sunday I saw Bryn Blalack talking with Nicki Thrasher....It was good to see Bryn again. She was THE player on the team in 97'...And it was Special to see two of the Best Aggie Soccer athletes this program has ever produced together.....And on a side note..There was an article on the Texas Aggie Soccer site a few days ago about how Heather Ragsdale and Andrea Starns have been playing soccer with each other since they were 6. What a Special moment in their Soccer careers to be at TAMU for a final home match in the NCAA Tournament! And Really Special that Heather Ragsdale scored the goal that would tie the match, and Andrea Starns made the final penalty kick that sealed the Aggies moving up into the Sweet 16 !

My friend at work told me that he read in the Dallas Morning News that Julie Goin has a torn ACL....That's so sad, not just the terrible injury, but the fact that it came at such a late stage in her collegiate career. Julie is a REALLY talented player. We will miss her greatly in our remaining matches.... And I think Julie Goin has the biggest fan based cheering section of all our players at every Texas Aggie Home Match......Get well soon Julie Goin ! Gig 'em ! And the UCLA Soccer Bruins JUST might be in for a BIG surprise Saturday Night !!!!! It's been a Great Year. Let's keep it Goin' a little longer !!!!!!!!!!

Juli is a class act!

She has done a bunch of Community work with youth soccer players in Dallas, Houston, and the Brazos Valley. She is a fantastic role model for those kids. It shows how many of those kids (and their parents) love her by the way they come out to support her at the Aggie Soccer Complex.

Again, Juli is a class act.

Come to think of it, the entire soccer team is Top Class! C'mon girls, BTHO UCLA!!!!!!!!

Do it for Juli!

Thanks, firstrowcenter! My e-mail address is <aggiesoccer@aggienetwork.com>.

I saw Bryn as well! I read that she had "retired" from the WUSA in order to get married. She was an All-American...the leader of those great teams in ’96 and ’97. It’s a shame they never got to have a run in the NCAAs.

The injury bug had thankfully stayed away since the ACL hullabaloo in 2000. I feel terrible for Juli...after her past injuries, I was so happy to see her have a great senior season. She will certainly be missed.

As for Rags and Andi...that was tremendous for them! Likely Andrea’s last touch at the Aggie Soccer Complex was a beautiful roller into the back of the net. What a fairytale! My heart sank when the girls went down, 2-0. The clutch play should assure us all that this season isn’t ending anytime soon.

See you in LA!
