After last Sunday's epic match with SMU, I got to thinking about how it ranked among the greatest Aggie soccer games ever. While I've been going to games for several years, I thought it would be cool to rank my favorites just from the last four seasons, those that our seniors were a part of (and Martha too!).

I don't know how the players feel, of course. These are just the best from my perspective as a spectator and a fan...the most entertaining, the most important, those with the most dramatic finishes, etc. Here's what I came up with.

(1) - 2002 - Texas A&M 1, SMU 1 (2OT) - College Station (NCAA)
(2) - 1999 - Texas A&M 3, Kentucky 2 (OT) - Lexington (NCAA)
(3) - 2002 - Texas A&M 2, Texas 1 - College Station
(4) - 2001 - Texas A&M 3, Nebraska 2 - San Antonio (Big 12)
(5) - 2001 - Texas A&M 2, SMU 1 (OT) - College Station (NCAA)

(6) - 2000 - Texas A&M 2, Texas 1 (OT) - College Station
(7) - 2000 - Texas A&M 4, North Texas 3 (OT) - College Station
(8) - 2001 - Texas A&M 1, Stanford 0 - Palo Alto (NCAA)
(9) - 2001 - Texas A&M 1, Texas 0 - San Antonio (Big 12)
(10) - 2002 - Texas A&M 3, Nebraska 2 - Lincoln

Honorable Mention

2002 - Texas A&M 2, SMU 1 (2OT) - College Station
1999 - Nebraska 1, Texas A&M 0 - College Station
2001 - Texas A&M 1, Washington 0 - Seattle
2000 - North Carolina 4, Texas A&M 1 - College Station
2002 - Texas A&M 2, Washington 1 (OT) - College Station

Let's hope the UCLA match easily makes the top 10. See you in LA!

BTHO UCLA!!!

I remember when Kati Jo was a freshmen and we played UCLA in the Sweet 16. Our offense didn't attempt a shot the entire game but Kati Jo stopped everything that came her way. Finally, in penalty kicks, Kati Jo stopped 3 of 4 shots and we made our 3 to win the game. That was one of the greatest performances ever by an Aggie player!!

Oh...but how must UCLA feel today! Lose to a team that never took a shot! UNBELIEVABLE!

Please fill me in on what happened in the UCLA game. The Chronicle does not have any info this morning. Thanks, Pat

P.S. My daughter played on the first Aggie soccer team when it was a club sport in 1980 and 1981. They lost to a very good N.C. team. Congrats to this year's team.

Brunner,

UCLA dominated A&M in every aspect of the game for the entire match, except for one. That being "putting the ball in the net". Not only did A&M not get credited with any shots on goal, they really didn't get into position to take a real shot. A&M's freashman goalkeeper was amazing, however, turning back shot after shot. The game came down to penalty shots, where A&M was perfect on shots and UCLA could only get one past our freshman goalkeeper.
