Men's tennis picked up a commitment from Junior Ore. Ore was ranked #4 in the nation for 2010. He is supposed to join the team in January. He should add some quality to our lineup. We have a chance to be really good this spring. TennisRecruiting.net also list Jordan Szabo from Australia as a commit, but I don't know much about him. Anybody have any info on Jordan?

Szabo committed last year, will be on campus in January, I believe. Made a handfull of ITF semis and finals, won two rounds of Aussie Open juniors, topped out around 150 in the world. Pretty big guy, likes to serve and volley. Should challenge for a spot in singles, and hopefully he's a stud in doubles.

I've seen Ore play a lot, he's got tons of upside and has experience against the top junior players in the world. Has played the junior Slams and made it to top 20 in the world.

Another big time recruiting class for Denton and McKinley.

If he was really a bad ass he would've gone pro. just sayin..

Really pretty excited about Junior Ore....the only question was whether he was going to college, and for once one of those decisions broke our way.....great job by the coaches in getting him onboard...

Well "if you're really good you go pro" holds true, then there are no college players that are really good. Therefore the best college players would be those who are the closest to being really good which is what Ore appears to be. Congrats to the coaches for recruiting the best almost really good player in the country.

If they are going to really make a run at a title, this is the year. Maybe this kid will push us closer to that goal.

Maybe make a run at the final four. Virginia will run circles around everyone this year.

Junior recently knocked off the #1 ranked junior tennis player in the world.

Yes, I was talking about Withrow, I wanted to wait until it was a little more official to name names. Frank was on the table too, but as mentioned, he committed to UVA early this week.

Dane committed to OU earlier this month. Chase and Jeff have had some interest from the Texas schools, but they have been pretty quiet about their favorites. Wouldn't surprise me if Chase went to Tech. Jose is looking at Baylor, UCLA, Louisville, Pepperdine, and a couple others.

If Withrow, Ore, and Szabo all show up in January, you are looking at one of the most talented rosters in the nation, no doubt.

You aren't really releasing information before its official, when you can find the same info on tennisrecruiting.net. You can pretty much see their top 3 or 4 choices and speculate from that. It's public info.

Haha yeah I'm pretty familiar with how tr.net works, thanks. And I knew about Jackson well before he took the other schools off his list, but I don't run here to try to scoop everyone else when I get new info, I just post occasionally when I feel like I have something to add that will keep people informed and excited about what's going on.

Moving on...Who do the girls have coming in besides Elze's sister?

Last I heard, Elze's sister coming in January was it. This is a really big recruiting year for the women with 3 scholarships being available

I ran into Bob McKinley before the game saturday, he seemed pretty dang excited about the guys they having coming in. He told me that we are really gonna like this Ore kid. Looking forward to seeing the guys place in the spring!

not aggie tennis related (but someone asked about him earlier in the thread), jeff offerdahl is going to vandy. a good spot for him, and he will never really be a threat to the ags.

aggie tennis related, jeff and austin had a big win over klahn and thacher (3 seeds) from stanford this morning at national indoors. austin also took out jp smith (5 seed) from tennessee. the boys should be a considerable favorite over kobelt and allare from tosu next round. austin will probably play peers from baylor second round, who got in at the last second thanks to shabaz and jenkins pulling out.

How did Austin and Jeff get into the singles draw? Thought there were a few guaranteed spots and the rest went to regional winners?

Austin and Jeff won their doubles match. Jeff lost his singles match five in third. Austin beat Peers from Baylor 76 in the third. Austin plays a boy from Ohio State tonight.

Jeff and Austin up 5-3 in the first in the finals of national indoors against the Thiemann boys from ole miss.
