What a joke. They claim it's based on "popularity and participation," yet clearly it's just whatever the eff ESPN wants to do, because Lacrosse has roughly 60 D-1 teams (many of whom aren't D-1 in most other sports), but tennis is at least in the 200 range (too lazy to count that many) and is tier 3. Can you spell East Coast bias?
Besides which, I understand a weighting system. But making the "tier 1" sports worth three times as much as the "tier 3" sports?? Really?
