As always, I'm rooting for Fed. Hope he starts off 2011 in a great way. Overall though, I just want to see some great tennis.

On the ladies side, my sentimental favorite Gisela Dulko looks like she'll have to go home in round 1 as she faces Caroline. Oh well, at least I'll get to watch her in HD on the tube for an entire match.

Harrison is in the bottom half, and would play Richard Gasquet second round. I doubt he makes a run.

I think eventually he will be a dang good player, he definitely has the heart of a great player, I just think he needs some more time on the tour.

Rooting for Fed and Rafa. Also would like to see the Americans make a nice run, like Fish and Querrey (but I think they might be in the same quarter as Fed, so that doesn't look good).

The guy playing Querrey, Lukasz Kubot, trained in Texas for a while years ago. I hit with him a couple times in high school, never thought he would get to the level he is at now, but he definitely paid his dues for years in the Futures and Challengers. One of the sickest backhands in the game, but his serve is a huge liability. He'll always be mainly a doubles specialist, but he could make some noise if he got past Querrey, who always looks shaky in the first round of majors.

Newks. My coach (who was from Poland) also worked part-time at Newks, and he brought Kubot and a couple other Polish guys over to train for a while. One of the other guys he brought over played at Tech for a year or two before trying to go pro, and eventually burning out. Kubot ended up sticking around for a while before going back home to start trying out the tour.

And there it is. Hopefully my boy Ryan can pull out some 5 set magic of his own, he's down a quick two sets to Mannarino.

I can't stand Monfils. Stinkin' De Bakker just had to choke... Querrey was inconsistent again, but it looks like Fish is making a strong comeback. Let's hope Andy plays a good first round.

And Roger Federer absolutely destroyed Lacko in that first set- he's been playing some GREAT tennis lately.

He had a lot of success when he started hitting his backhand and flattening out his forehand, and he has since gone away from it. I don't get it.

Watching Tipsarevic choke in that fourth set and then not even look like he cared to play in the fifth was pretty sad. I usually like the way he plays but that was pretty sorry.
