Pat Henry has added ten distance runners in this year's class. One is a junior college transfer, Tulon Lelei. This past fall Lelei claimed the 2010 NJCAA national cross country championship title in a meet record of 23:29 on an 8,000-meter course to defeat the field by 25 seconds.

If Pat Henry earns six points in the Lonestar Showdown every year (only four now) then we only need four more points to beat the sips each year in the Lonestar Showdown. It is pretty much a cinch that from football, volleyball, soccer, baseball, softball, m & w basketball, m & w swimming, m & w golf, and m & w tennis that we can earn an additional 4 points each year.

Too bad Deloss and the sips didn't see this one coming!!!!

I think the distance runner is great but Pat did the same thing 2 years ago and that guy didn't exactly pan out. Maybe this one will be different.

If you're refering to Shadrak we won the region his one year of remaining elgibility. Beating not only tu but also Arkansas, who had won like 18 region titles in a year.

Cross country counts the top 5 finishers right? One stud does not a CC team make, but it sure is a good start.

I wasn't aware that Henry was also coach of the cross country team.

Yes XC scores based on your top 5. We have a big senior class next year so hopefully they, combined with Lelei and some freshman who showed promise, can combine to put together a nice year to beat tu and qualify for Nationals.

Yes, coach Henry is the official cross-country head coach but really in name only. Coach Waters is the one who coaches the XC team everyday and makes the decisions about who runs, where they go for meets, etc. However, since XC runners are a part of the track & field team (you can kind of think as XC as the fall season for track & field) coach Henry is technically the head coach.

Other than the men in 2008, we have been very weak in XC for the past few years. One great runner is a start, a great start. But we are still 9 runners (4 men & 5 women) away from being competitive teams against tu.

Shadrack Songok was a tremendous XC runner [second in the Big 12 in 2008] but in the end, he quit on us.
