Up to #11 in singles, highest ranked aggie women's player since '91. Pretty impressive, hopefully she can make waves at ncaa's

That's awesome. It should really help the team having one of the top 1 line players in the nation.

It would help, if they had any sort of depth at the bottom. You can count on Morgan, but other than that, most matches are a crapshoot at the 3-6 line.

Unfortunately, Nazari is our only ranked player. Morgan dropped from the rankings. None of our doubles are ranked.

Nazari looked awesome last night. Any idea why Potgieter is down to #4?

Because she can't win there or any higher than 4

Isn't that the problem with EVERYONE on our team aside from the top 2?

If I were the Washington AD, I would be livid at my women's tennis coach.

You pay for flights down to Texas and then when it looks like you are going lose, you refuse to finish matches indoors on the 2 available courts. A&M had won the doubles point and 3 of the 4 completed singles sets outdoors when rain came. Washington refused to finish on the two courts available at Bryan Indoor.

YOu think the Wash Ad cares about Women's tennis?

If he is like our AD he doesnt.

A&M is going to petition to the ITA for the win, and it sounds like they just might get it

The Wash AD would certainly care about the cost of the trip - especially if they didn't want to compete. He could have had them sit at home in Washington idle or could have bused E Washington in to play.

It looks like we were pretty clearly in control of the match. Does anyone know what the excuse given for not playing was?

Their coach didn't want play on 3 courts indoors, and definitely not on 2, but claimed that they had a flight to catch.

I don't see any way that we don't win the petition simply because she left a match that was already in progress, even though it was delayed. If they hadn't started the match, and she decided to leave, that might be a different story.

Good point. And it seems like if you are going to spend all the money to fly down from Washington, then it's a bigger waste of money to fly back with no match at all than it is to spend a little more on the flight change fee.

It seems pretty blatant - UW just didn't want to lose the match. How does this go down? Does the NCAA decide? Will they make them re-play?

I doubt they'll force a replay. That's the kind of precedent that gets programs cut.

Speaking of precedent, what are the relevant examples? I seem to remember the guys getting a victory declared for them a few seasons ago, but am not positive of the details.

They won't replay the match, thats for sure. The ITA will either make it a cancelled match and it will be wiped from the teams records, or they will give the win to A&M 7-0.

The only one situation I know of is the Ohio St.-Baylor match from last year. OSU came to Waco, worked out in the afternoon in shorts and t shirts. However, the rule is that if the temperature is going to be below 50 at any time during the estimated match time, a team can pull out of the match. OSU decided that since it was going to be 48 or so after the match started, they didn't want to play and they couldn't go indoors, so they went home. Basically, OSU wanted to play it indoors, because they knew they would win inside.

Chicken s--t if you ask me.
