I just saw we got our tails handed to us by Kansas State. Folks, we are not good. And it isn't that everyone else in the conference has gotten better. I went to the Missouri match and stated then that I was not happy about the quality of tennis I saw. We barely won that match, and Missouri is a bottom feeder. I go to men's matches, and I go to women's matches. Absolutely NO comparison. The men's team is what we should be, and the women's team seems to be a lower-tier conference team wearing our clothes. I said a while back I was concerned about the Kansas State match. And I was right. I don't want to hear that Kansas State beat Baylor. Joey screwed with his lineup, AND he had like three of his top six out of the lineup. And he pulled that against just a decent Kansas State squad. Even then, the Bears had to play really, really bad to drop that match. I think this is a 5th or 6th place Big 12 team. We should be better. Baylor and Oklahoma are absolutley going to roll us. I hope I'm wrong. And there is a very solid chance we lose to Nebraska and Texas Tech. Again, hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

Bigfoot I haven't made one post since the season started about women's tennis. If byrne doesn't care about how ****ty the program is why should I?

And why did you flame Eyes?..Eyes makes valid points we continue to underachieve....I think a new coach is gonna be needed to take the next step.

By the way, OP, when did anyone say the womens team was that good? I know I sure didn't. We have a pretty good 1, a good, not great 2 when she wants to be, and a less than mediocre 3-5 with a walk-on (read: given a scholly) battling for 6 sometimes. We aren't that good. Luckily, it's a somewhat down year in the big 12. Notice I said somewhat. We still have OU and OSU. OU is much improved. I say we end up 35-45 in rankings with maybe a 3 seed in the tourney. Same old story.

XIAggie- don't expect any change from $BB anytime soon. Just isn't a priority. And if anyone else was AD, it still wouldn't be. Who knows, maybe we get a few good recruits in the fall. We know we will need them.

How is the big 12 down this year?
Most years our #35 ranked team is guaranteed 3rd place in the big 12, at worst. This year it seems like we could finish middle of the conference?

If they finish 5th, this could be the year a change is made. Right?!? They've played 3 of the 4 conference bottom feeders. Could they really lose to OSU/NEB/TT type teams?

Big 12 being down meaning that Texas is down. There is only one clear cut leader in Baylor. Usually Baylor and Texas are top
10-15 teams

Is this the OP's first season to ever follow Aggie women's tennis? Or women's college tennis in general? Serious question, no flame intended.

Big XII is MUCH better this year, we just aren't.

Missouri is usually a bottom-feeder but they have been ranked in the 50s which is as high as I can ever remember for them. Same with Tech. Nebraska is as good as they have ever been, in the 30s. Oklahoma in the top 20 is unprecedented. K-State all of the sudden isn't terrible and has been ranked in the 30s. OSU looked like they were getting better last year but not sure what happened to them?

Iowa State, CU, and Kansas are still terrible but those and maybe OSU are the only sure wins left in the conference. We could easily have a losing conference record for the first time since '92 but I think we'll finish 6-5. Ranked 32 and falling, making the NCAA tournament is no sure thing.

I think it would probably take not making it a couple of years in a row for BB to chop the wood!

yes, we learned from the 'sips this past Fall that B12 being down means t.u. isn't as good. nothing else matters.

Tech women just beat t.u., probably for the first time in the history of that series. Don't think the Ags have ever lost to Tech either (at least not in the big 12 era), good thing the match is at Mitchell this year. I think we are very slight favorites in that one.

It was for the first time ever, Tech over tu. Good for Coach Petty, they might actually be relevant now. Maybe not this year, but it's a step in the right direction for them.
