Sounds like Bobby K is pretty happy with his upcoming recruiting class. I think they are going to be pretty good next year! Mainly just replacing Morgan Frank - losing Liles and Davidson won't hurt them much. Also heard they were getting a really good transfer from the University of Alabama as well for next year. Santacroce and Olivier won't get much playing time next year and that is for the better!

A transfer would mean that someone would have to walk on. Hopefully this transfer is good enough that a girl in this year's recruiting class doesn't take a scholarship.

The transfer is good enough to play top 6 right away. I do not believe she will be taking a scholarship.

You mean a crappy 7/8 player on the roster, who never plays in meaningful matches would not be on full ride!?!?! That's discriminatory. These girls need their Title IX handouts!

I was just pointing out that our scholarships were all handed out, and you don't see a top four player(my definition of a really good transfer) transferring without getting a scholarship. Thanks for the info Road!

Was digging through this year's roster and last, trying to figure out who the transfer might be...must be a current player, because no underclassmen were on the roster in 2010 and off in 2011?

They're 8-3 in the SEC, and played Baylor to a 4-3 loss. I'll take the high-road and play the odds that the transfer will be valuable.

I heard the transfer was from Arkansas.

One recruit is a transfer from Tyler JUCO. She was ranked #1 in JUCO ranks. She will have a ship. Another transfer has played against A&M twice. She won both matches. At least one young lady will be a walkon. I am not sure if the walkon and the second transfer are the same person.

SO, I think enough hints have been given that everyone knows who the transfer is, so more details: Kelsey Sundaram, from NB, played 1 year at Arkie. Lived in both India and the US (graduated from HS here), and when she was 17 won the Indian Jr. National title. Was the 20th ranked junior player in the US (tops in Texas) in the c/o 2009. Was on India's Commonwealth Games team, so she's got bigtime experience. Dad owns a big tennis academy in India (I think our women's team would fare pretty well in a NCAA-parents match). Wants to be a vet, so that's probably what earned us the transfer. Possible Arkansas coaches wouldn't let her redshirt to focus on the CG's.

As a freshman, in the regular season, went 19-5 (8-2 in the SEC!!) to lead the team in wins. Played 3-4-5 (mostly 5). Went 13-6 at no. 2 doubles (3-3 at no. 1).

Beat Lauren 6-3, 6-1. Won her matches against Tennessee, Virginia, and Florida, which are all top-15 teams. She should eat up the 4 line in the relatively weak Big 12.

beating Lauren is nothing to write home about, but I think she will be a nice addition to the lineup. Looking forward to next years class

True, but handling her in straight sets means that worst-case, she's a huge upgrade on at least one line!

I don't want to sound too optimistic before they even play a match, but we'll now have a two-year stretch of classes that you can really build a program around. Our 1 is going to be very good, Potgieter and the transfer combine to be a very good 3-4 combo, which has been a big weakness for us. The hard part is going to be filling in the gap at 2 left by Morgan. If we can figure out a way to avoid sliding everyone up a line, we've probably got 4 very good singles lines. Losing Morgan and Stephanie in doubles will sting (Stephanie has been very good at the 3-doubles), but we'll still be a 50-50 team there. That sets us up to win a lot of matches.

I have some information from a good source. Keep in mind this is an opinion and there are always two sides to the story: Apparently she is a very nice girl off the court and a huge talent but the dad is the stereotypical overbearing tennis dad, so she is a head case on the court and a tennis burnout. Was expected to play high in the lineup at Arkansas this year but lost motivation for tennis which frustrated the Arkansas coach and she was kicked off the team early this spring.

It sounds like she has the same story as Agassi and many other great players. She is basically a good kid with a crazy dad who made her hate tennis. Maybe a change of pace and a father-figure type coach will do her some good. After all of these walk-on caliber scholarship players, it will be nice to have a scholarship level walk-on and maybe she can provide the depth we have been missing.

Also, she beat Janelle 7-5, 6-4 this spring when she was supposedly tanking and about to be kicked off the team. She beat Tech's #6 6-2, 6-2 and Mizzou's #6 6-1, 6-1 in the fall. If she can "tank" like that at 6 for us, I'll take it!

Good Info. One might argue she's not the only player in the program in a similar situation...Support group??
