A&M just moved one stroke ahead of Oregon in the NCAA West Regionals in Washington state with just one hole remaining to be played for the last spot in the NCAA national championships to be played in Bryan.

Looks like the Ags will make it to nationals. Lots of schools still on the course, but it looks like the Ags push past Oregon at the end will get them in by one stroke!

OU still has a chance with the back 9 to play.

Wow! What a comeback. Anything can happen.

I know that the University of Southern California is the #1 team for now, but look out. The Texas A&M Women's golf team could be NATIONAL CHAMPIONS when this thing is all said and done. Gig 'EM.

I'm glad they were able to pull it out at the end and claim the region's final NCAA slot.

The event will be a lot more fun with our girls out there competing and I'm looking forward to the tournament.

I believe this. No other Big12 team especially Texas made it to play on our "home" course. We have a chance.

Well, winning the NC is probably a reach. Most of the teams that will be in the tournament came to a preview tournament at Traditions in the Fall. A&M finished 16th of the 18 teams -- over 50 strokes behind the first two teams.

That said, we've replaced a couple of team members since then and we could definitely make a run at the top 10.

It was quite a miracle for them to make it to nat's. Hoping for another!

Home course might be a bigger advantage in golf than any other sport in the NCAA...

But 50 strokes is a lot to make up. A few good days though, and you never know...

This is almost as good as Baylor not making the Women's Basketball Final Four.

The men's format when we won the natl championship was to play 2 rounds (I think it was 2, anyway) and then let the top 8 teams do a match play competition. If the women use the same format, that could help equalize some of that 50 stroke difference. Hope so anyway! Go ladies!

Was wondering if the women use the same final 8 format too happy. Anyone know if the rules are the same?

What a fiercly competitive comback by our ladies to make the finals. VERY impressive. Congratulations to the players.

No, the women don't use the match play format. They play four rounds instead of their usual three, though. The men play three rounds and then the top eight are entered in the match play tournament.

Dang, thanks. Looks like we will have to go low and stay low from the beginning.

What's the logic behind the different formats?

The year A&M won was the first the men had gone to the match play format. I remember reading last year some of women's coaches would like to do the same, but I guess there just isn't a consensus yet.
