I run for the cross country and track teams. You can email me at shagrunner@hotmail.com , and I'd be happy to talk to the coaches and give you their contact info.
Anyway, to the person who is a runner...Would a 4:20 miler in high school be a good acquisition to your team? His track program got disbanded at the University he went to during his freshman year and he needs to transfer with 3, 4, and 4 years of eligibility left (XC, IT, OT). He has redshirted 2 of the seasons (IT, OT).
I need to talk to him about it first. He may want to initiate contact himself. In order to transfer by next fall, when do you think he needs to contact Coach Hartman by?
He finished 3rd in the mile in Region II behind a Stanford runner and a guy who went to Arkansas, I think. Anyway, he is looking at a few schools, but he'd like to run in Texas. He is in pretty good shape right now...He was doing 5 mile tempo runs at 5:30 pace without a coach or a training partner. Not bad considering a lot of college runners run that in their 8k races. Of course, that wouldn't cut it on a major DI team, but that is just his tempo work.
You may hear from him or me within a couple of weeks...Thanks for the offer.
