What is the rule for running out of assigned lane? Just watched the finish of the W400 Hurdles and LSU runner was out of lane down the stretch. Started in lane 6 finished in lane 5. Is that a DQ or loss of points?

Announcer just clarified question. LSU runner was DQ'ed.

Wallace Spearmon, who has been a volunteer assistant for the Aggies, got 3rd in the 200 at the Beijing Olympics, but was disqualified after running on the outside of his lane - even though it made his race longer, he didn't stay in his lane for a couple of steps and lost a medal.

Gil Roberts from Tech was DQ'ed from the m400...not sure what the issue was, but they lose 8 points and we gain 2!
