For those who follow track recruiting, how is our incoming class and current freshmen? Do any of them have the potential to fill Jessica's shoes?

FSU might be difficult to beat next year on the men's side.

We've got some guys and gals who can run a good 400 coming in, so we'll see what happens.

Kamaria Brown's a freaking stud at the 400 and I think she could be better than Beard when it's all said and done.

Kanika Beckles is a JUCO girl from Grenada who has run races in the 53.5-54.5 range. Olivia Ekpone might be better at the shorter sprints, I don't really know, but she has ran a sub 54. Those are not up to Beard's level, but you can contribute on a relay with those times.

Olivia Ekpone will most likely stick to the 100 & 200, but will be very useful in the 4x400 and 4x100. She is very similar to Jeneba.

There's a lot of recruits coming in for events that aren't usually our strong suit. The women's long jump and triple jump, we have LaQue Moen-Davis who did well at the jr olympics. We have another javelin thrower for the men that will probably do very well on the collegiate level, with our throwing coaches and his talent.

I think LSU women and Florida men should be the favorites to win next year. Well be in contention but both of them have a lot returning next year.

Last year we beat Florida (men) by one point. We lose Curtis Mitchell and they "gain" Will Claye (who scored 14 points). They should have beaten us by a country mile. The women won last year without the hurdlers (and w/o Gabby in the sprints). This year they won again w/o the hurdlers and w/o Vashti Thomas. It only shows that anything can happen, you just need to be prepared to give it you best.

That being said, we lose a great senior class, both men and women. We will be talented and hopefully deep next year but not experienced. But we have the best coach(es), so never count us out.
