Definetly nice to see us handle that one with ease. I'm not sure about creighton's quality this year but they are a very good mid-major team most years and we have lost to them in past years if I remember correctly.

In the third set Pendergast played Libero and Mellinger took Ringel's spot as an outside. Also Minnerly came in place of Hendrickson in the middle.

I prefer the first lineup in all aspects. Hendrickson looked good in the middle, and I've always thought Mellinger was a very good Libero, especially when receiving serve. If anything we need an outside with more firepower than Ringel, as our ball control is normally pretty solid between Black, Mellinger, and Ringel.

Mellinger looked SOLID as a hitter. Didn't see that one coming at all, but I liked what I saw.

Aren't we playing Creighton again tomorrow? What up with that?

UTSA looked like a good HS team and the Ags barely beat them last night. I don't have a good feeling about this team when they go up against solid teams.

Just calling it like I saw it. Were you there? The girl who was the main subject of the Eagle's (College Station's newspaper, Jim)writeup this morning had 4 or 5 serves into the net. At least that can be corrcted.

Assessment after three matches.

Better than the end of last year with most of lineup returning. Black will be all conference. Katsmo looked more in control on right side that last year and hit extremely well. Serve needs work and could see a defensive replacement come in for back row but I would rather see her as a six rotation player who can hit off the back row when setter is in front row ala Jenny Banse her senior year. Need more offensive production out of OH 2 position and hope to see more players this Tuesday in that position but Ringel serve receive was very good. Hendrickson took over the number 2 middle spot and her serve from south college station has a nice float to it. Will have to improve laterally across the net to close the block or we will have issues in the big 12 come conference time. I would like to see her hit from outside also some and have Minnerly get some reps in middle. Setter placement and timing has improved but back row defense needs continued development. Her swings can be good on second contact but predictable but her dumping of the ball to specific areas has vastly improved and she has devolved a motion to swing followed by a set that could be deceptive during conference time. Like to see her force dump a couple of balls similar to the Creighton setter. Mellanger solid at libero and pendergrast could be libero if Mellanger moved to outside or as a serving/defensive replacement for someone. We struggled with covering our hitters on blocked balls but looked to be in proper position just didn't make plays. If we can find a terminating option on the outside opposite Black we could make some noise in the conference. Without that option looking at close to .500 conference record and we need the mental fortitude this year to win fifth sets more than any other season. Wish the team luck this season and continued improvement over the next 8-10 matches before conference
