About to drop the flag. Spies on the front row, Edwards on the second. They're from Longview and Conroe, respectively. Edwards is a former world champ. Spies was fasted in morning warm-up, gonna be a great race.

The on-board shots are the best in motorsports. Wicked fast and incredible skills. BTW for any of you who may care, and there doesn't seem to be many out there, Spies finished 3rd. Awful start, dropped to 9th, then great ride through the field to finish on the box. Edward's 7th.

Either of yall watch Formula 1? Sadly, no Ags or homegrown boys... But with F1 making it's U.S. comeback in Texas next year... Maybe we could get some American kart racers in the pipeline...

Big fan of F1, it's the highest form of motorsports. It's been a lot of fun to watch Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes go at it this year. Vettel/Red Bull are going to win the world championship but the other manufacturers are closing the gap.
As far as Americans in the sport, there are no drivers from the USA in GP2 now. I raced open wheel and bikes in my youth, my son raced shifter karts regionally and nationally. There is no real path to F1 in the states. It takes big $'s to get there. The only real hope is a US based F1 team. There was one two years ago but it folded.
11/28/12 Austin. I'll be there. Come by the motorhome, all are welcome.

I've been to Laguna races every year since motogp returned in 2005. Loaded up my sprinter van with 3 sport bikes and a supermotard and drove out to Laguna this year, arriving Tuesday evening and then riding PCH and elsewhere and attending the races. We sit in T3 and it is a great place to watch the race from.

Our drive back was interesting, and in the middle of the desert, off Route66, we found this bombed out old gas station with graffiti honoring Rossi this year:

Been a huge F1 fan sinced the late 60's.....just got back from Austin to see progress on COTA, catch up with my motorcycle buddies at a new shop in Austin (AF1 Racing), and watch Senna film.

I enjoyed the Senna film also--my father and brother have always been really into F1, sucked me into a few years back. Just every year I fall more in love with it.
I'm enjoying this year regardless of the Red Bull deathgrip. I'm very excited for next year... really hoping for some changes to the DRS.
Staff rat, I'm going to take leave and head to Austin for the race also--doubt I'll be able to get tickets but waiting patiently for a list to come out.
That's also badass you were able to race some open wheel growing up--jealous.

Senna!
His nephew, Bruno, has a seat at Lotus Renault.
I think you'll see Ferrari and McLaren in the mix next year. They both seem to have made up ground during the break.
Yuccadoo, what did you think about Rossi's race at Laguna? He's really struggling, some folks say it's the bike, but Stoner made the Ducati fly two years ago.
