Why did they not play a tie breaker in the 5th set of Roddick's semi final match yesterday?

US Open is the only one of the slams that allows for tiebreaks in the final set (5th for men, 3rd for women). US Open started this in, I believe '68 or '74.

French, Wimbledon and Aussie allow tiebreaks in sets 1-4 for men and 1-2 for women. Final sets must be won by two games.

Unless its changed, Davis Cup doesn't allow tiebreaks in any set.
