Both the A&M Men's Rugby and Women's Rugby teams took home the Big 12 Tournament Championship on Saturday in Norman.

Actually they didn't take the Big 12 Championship since it isn't a recognized sport by the Big 12.

Space Aggie, the Big 12 schools that participate in this type of tournament recognize the winners as Big12 Champions. The club sides that win also consider themselves champs. Our club sports teams get national recognition for their efforts and gain TAMU exposure all over the country. Thanks Rugby teams for the wins and congratulations.

Ahhh...the rugby team...those were the days. I remember taking a trip to Berkley when I was a fish (rookie) and getting it handed to us, but it was a great time.

sorry guys...I have to say I agree with "space aggie" on this one. Congrats on winning that tournament, but saying you are BIG XII Champions is not true. Rugby is not a varsity sport that is recognized by the BIG XII.

I agree they are not recognized "varsity " sports, but they are recognized " club " sports and therefore are the Big12 Champions in a club sport. The USA Rugby Union crowns a collegiate champion every year that is accepted as national champions by all schools. The real bottomline, we should be proud of all Aggies that reach championship levels in any endeavor.
