Pickup number one for the Aggie men (women seem to be done after the fall).

Jacob Wallace - 100 back state champ. We NEEDED that one.

I'm very pleased with the women's class. Addresses our biggest weakness now - 50/100/200 freestyle. And of course another elite breaststroker!

I'm always worried about the men's class. :-(

What about divers? We lose a huge amount of diving talent.

Great start. How are we coming with some serious IM guys?

Beretta - I haven't heard of any other commits...best guess is that a lot of this class (should be good money floating around?) will be filled by internationals.

Seems funny, because year-after-year, Texas puts out a ton of really good IM'ers, but they all end up at Stanford.

TCU, meanwhile, is having a phenomenal class...though there's still some iffyness as to how they'll pan out (a couple of the better non-club swimmers you'll ever see coming out of the state).

4A Lake Travis swimmer had better time in 100 back and fly (state champ in fly and DQd back in regionals). Signed with Michigan. Heard we did not recruit him hard at all. Interesting.

RAB - have that backwards. Won the 100 back, was DQ'ed in the 100 fly.

The LTHS swimmer flinched at the start in 100 fly at regionals. Hence the DQ. Officiating at that particular meet was suspect - at least 27 false starts or early takeoffs, an extraordinary number. He would have easily won the 100 fly at state - maybe by 2 seconds.

That swimmer has OT cuts in 100 fly, his better event. He also swam a 45.36 100 free flat start on the 400 free relay.

There is no conceivable reason TCU should recruit Texas kids better than A&M except scholarship money or the slight difference in academics. I bet TCU doesn't give much to divers. So they might have 8.9 for swimmers instead of the 7.9 Jay usually gives.

Ironically, more TCU divers make NCAA's than swimmers. Their women had their first NCAA swimmer in like 15 years last month. Their men aren't much better. We should be destroying them in recruiting. If we aren't getting kids they sign, it's likely because we are going after better ones.

TCU's female NCAA swimmer was a foreign athlete. Most of the best swimmers are foreign. Crespo should have been there this year with his 53 breaststroke. But the cuts were crazy.

The Nix kid would have been an interesting one for A&M. His entire family is fast - and they are all short course sprinters. Lightly trained too. I doubt he develops at TCU.

I just don't understand why we wouldn't recruit the Texas kids over the international. Of course I am very biased as I have a 7th grader that Jay needs to recruit at some point.
