Another Aggie stamps her ticket to London - TRIIN ALJAND with a 25.16 in the women's 50 free at the Eindhoven Cup in the Netherlands.

That's two for sure in women's swimming so far...who else?

Pavlin is going in the 200 IM and 3 girls will be at Olympic Trials in Mexico in two weeks. Jaelle made the Austrailia dive team and Janie will try out soon. I think two of the girls have a good shot at the US team. I hope all the girls get a picture together in London.

You sure Pavlin has locked up the spot already?

Kim might have to wait on Fina to see how deep the cut is for the 200 IM however, she has a really deep cut.

It will be interesting to see which sport gets the most A&M athletes to the Olympics. Track has a lot of national titles and should have a lot of people at Trials. They might not have as many good international athletes however.

Any idea what Kim's qualifying time is?

Shane - she went a 2:14.93 last summer.

FINA B-cut is only a 2:18.03...We'll have to wait and see where FINA ultimately draws the cutline.

For those who haven't kept up, FINA set the cap at 900 swimmers this year (there were 1022 in Beijing). That means that a whole lot more people are going to get left home with the current FINA qualifying system.

For those curious, there's going to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 300-350 spots taken by auto qualifier + relay swimmers. Then 150 swimmers get entered from countries who didn't have anyone make the B-standard. Then they start working through the 26 events one entry at a time until they pass 900. So, Pavlin would have to expect to be about the 17th or 18th-best, non-auto QF, unique country 200 IM'er etc. etc. assuming my guestimated numbers are right. Then there will be teams who won't send B-cut swimmers.

In other words, FINA has decided to create the most complicated qualifying system known to man, where nobody will have any idea about if they've qualified until mid-June.

Ultimately, I think Kim sits roughly 7th-8th of those 16, so she should be in.

But then again...nobody really knows.
