yeah, I know it's equestrian, but I have a Baylor friend that said they won the NC over the weekend, but aggieathletics said we did. I know nothing about equestrian, so who actually won?

They won Hunter Seat title. A&M won Western Title. A&M won overall title.

There's not a perfect comparison in college sports, but pretend like they gave separate National Championships for track teams and field teams. We won the Track title, they won the field title. We won the Track & Field Title.

They won 1 trophy, we won 2. As a side note, I am friends with the Baylor coach so that is the only part of Baylor I can even remotely tolerate. I need to remember to send her a congratulations e-mail today.

Better analogy is there is a indoor track title and outdoor track title - Baylor and Texas A&M each won one, and then based on points (think Nascar finishing place points for an overall championship) earned in those two disciplines, they award just a "track" title - which A&M got - btw, because of the fact the Ags were in the finals in both English (Hunt Seat) and Western, they would have still earned the overall title even if they had lost western, thus it is possible to win the overall title and not even win one of the discipline championships

got the Sunday Waco paper and the headlines for the sports page read "Baylor beats A&M for NC".

Waco paper cannot be depended upon for accuracy. If you only read it for information, you would think faylor won every contest.

I am curious to see how they end up scoring it when it ever becomes an official NCAA sport, but I think there will only end up being only one on champion for things like the directors cup/capital one/etc. I think to me the better analogy will end up being Baylor is the national champion in the 4x400 relay and A&M won the 4x100 relay national championship but A&M won the overall championship.

Tennis might be the better analogy (ironic in that their scoring method was derived from that sport): Baylor wins singles, A&M wins doubles, A&M wins team title.
