Ran a national best 45.19 400m in regional finals. 6th all time best in US. Also led Timberview 4x400 relay to national best of 3:12:71

Outstanding.

Pat Henry is gold for Texas A&M.

Pure gold.

Wow! 45.19 in HS is ridiculous! Sounds like a sure bet for NCAA champ in the not-too-distant future.

Agree, Pat Henry is pure gold, have never seen a coach dominate a sport like this for as long as he has.

He's also run a great 200m and 100m. The ideal Pat Henry recruit. Can contribute points in 2 or 3 sprints and 2 relays.

Love how Henry just keeps loadin' them up!

My big fear is that he may never make it to Aggieland. With his latest performance he will be besieged by pro agents. It may be hard to turn down the kind of money they may offer. Recent 400 phenom Kirani James lasted one year at Alabama before signing away his eligibility.

That is great news. Pardon my lack of knowledge but where is "Timberview"?

Thanks blastoff. I presume Mansfield, Texas. They have had had their share of good athletes lately.

Timberview is actually in Arlington, but part of Mansfield ISD. Aldrich lives in Arlington.

Junior nationals are this weekend...

Perhaps the biggest storyline is Aldrich Bailey vs. Arman Hall, 2011 World Youth Champion and soon to be running with the new national champion Florida Gators.

Aggie commit Jennifer Madu, 100 meter champion at the world championships, qualified 9th with a 11.53. Aaliyah Brown, who has A&M in her top three, qualified with a 11.44, and will also run with current Aggie Olivia Ekpone in the 200m.

Madu finishes 2nd in the 100 with an 11.57.(-0.2 wind)

Madu is going to score lots of points for the Ags the next 4 years. Very versatile and talented athlete.

SA68AG,

Any concern with any of these recruits turning pro after their success? And does it being an Olympic year play a factor?

Thanks

I'm not concerned but it's more of an "ignorance is bliss" situation than knowledge of how pro track works.

Pat Henry's a pretty staunch supporter of putting in your four years, and developing as an athlete and easing into the demands of pro track.

Its hard to predict, but hopefully these guys will follow Henry's lead. Unless one of them turns out to be another Justin Gatlin, Henry will encourage them to stay.

Have to wonder where Curtis Mitchell would be right now if he had not left school early.

He was one of the better 200m runners and is now no where to be seen.

Aldrich won the US Juniors today and will represent the US in the World Championships. His time was an outstanding 45.37. He beat last years World Youth 400 champion Arman Hall who ran a 45.77. These two will be competing against each other for the next 4years in the SEC. Hall is going to UF. Hopefully we'll see the same results. Also A&M student Olivia Ekpone won the girls 200m in 23.18. She'll add to the Aggie contingent at the world championships.

Ekpone, Bailey, Madu, Coleman, Vaughan, and Bogert made the Barcelona squad.

I believe Vaughan met the Olympic B standard with her throw, as did Aldrich.

Minkah ran in the final of the 110h, but something must have happened. He wouldn't post a 16.6 if he ran a clean race.
