Day 1 Track Events to watch

4x100 Relays : Best teams were pretty well distributed in the heats for both the men and women.

800m : Oregon women get a tough draw as two of their predicted point scorers get in a heat with 5 predicted point scorers. At least 1 predicted point scorer will not make finals due to a max of 4 runners from each heat able to qualify.

400m: A&M gets a tough draw on the mens side as 4 predicted point scorers and 5 of top 10 are in his heat. Women's draw seems pretty evenly distributed.

100m : A&M men get tough draw as Hardy is placed in heat with 1,2,3(Hardy),7,10 predicted finishers. In comparison 1 heat has 0 top ten predicted finishers. The women were once again more evenly distributed.

Other teams will have scoring possibilities in the W steeplechase, 400h, and M 10k.

Championships can't be won on this first day, but they certainly can be lost by not advancing to finals. There have always been a few surprises along the way each year, so we might as well expect them.

The good news with the tough draw is that if we advance, we would take down some points from teams who were expected to score.

Are they "televised" online?

I remember watching last year, but I don't remember if they had qualifying or not.

most of the first events are decathlon with a long time between events.

FSU guy in 13th on Decathlon after first day. I hope it stays that way.

After the frist day of the decathalon, FSU's predicted winner is in 13th place 292 points behind the leader. Potential is there for FSU to lose some points.

FSU and A&M both make it to the finals. Auburn looks like the class of the field with A&M, LSU, Illinois, and FSU fighting for 2nd.

Our men's 4X100 first leg just looks slow. I am not sure if it was the start but it seems to be consistant. Might want to swap 1st and 3rd legs.
