There appears to have been some discussion about whether it is permissible for the families of current student-athletes to conduct fund raisers to help in off setting their travel expenses to the Olympics.
NCAA rules allow for a commercial company (other than a professional sports organization) or members of the local community to provide actual and necessary expenses for a current or prospective student-athlete's spouse, parents, legal guardian or other relatives to attend the Olympic Games in which the student-athlete will participate.
Therefore, if your company would like to donate to such a cause or if you live in the same community as the family member(s) of the Olympian and would personally like to donate, you may do so without jeopardizing their NCAA eligibility
