Randy Barnes won gold as well as silver. He also holds the indoor and outdoor world records in the shot.

Its all ridiculously tainted by steroid usage, but I had forgotten he still technically has his Gold medal.

I think that's in reference to Breeja possibly swimming on the prelim medley relay.

Randy Matson won silver in '64 and gold in '68 in the shot put. Considered the greatest shot putter in history. Member of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame and was drafted by the NFL, NBA and ABA. Passed up all of these to concentrate on track. Entered 79 competitions with 70 wins, 6 seconds and 3 thirds.

Oh yeah! Thanks halco totally blanked on that. I was trying to figure out who we might have on a foreign relay that could challenge the US...totally forgot about Breeja getting a likely prelims spot.

Unless you're thinking of Curtis Mills, then I assume you're referring to the boycott of the 1980 Moscow Summer Games by the United States. My understanding is that Dickey was somewhat ambivalent about going to the games - He would have liked to have competed, but he was also concerned at the time about how it might have affected his NFL career had he delayed entering the pros in order to participate in the Olympics.

The Mills Brothers were the bomb - Arguably the greatest track athletes (Randy Matson being the greatest field) to ever wear the maroon and white.
