USA is out of medal contention. 1st time ever. We got screwed again in the Spence match.

Ruling over turned, US has one boxer left. This is at least two over turned decisions so far this Olympics. Sounds like they need a new scoring system.

Our "gangstas" aren't as tough as they used to be.

The scoring system is insane and tends to encourage bad boxing.

Plus, this is a particularly bad year with the judges and referees. There was one guy that knocked another guy down 6 times in one round and lost. It's been overturned but c'mon.

Not sure if our "ganstas" are tough enough or not, but the boxing hirearchy currently in place in the US is terrible. We used to hammer people in eaveyr weight class and now we meekly fall apart.

The best boxers turn pro and don't stick in the amateur ranks.

They shouldn't, either. The scoring system that the Olympics uses encourages a tactical style of boxing that will not get you far outside of the Olympics.

This. It's even vastly different from other amateur boxing in the US like the golden gloves competitions.

Fortunately, the rules are being changed for 2016, so hopefully things will turn around.

NBC broadcasters have been highly critical of the officiating during the Olympics, not saying that anybody was favored or not, but saying that the officiating crew has been terrible. Same announcers were watching a match yesterday afternoon (no American athletes) at ringside and were asked to leave the arena by an Olympic official. Eventually, they did, but because of that incident, NBC has pulled TV coverage of that sport in protest.
