Not a shocker with Fehr around. Bigger shock would have been the league avoiding a lockout and Fehr remaining quiet in the background. But his goal is line his pockets with cash and force another work stoppage in a second sport. Heluva record that guy has.

Just when people started to care about hockey again...They had their dream matchup for the American audience at least (LA vs. New Jersey, East vs. West)...and then they blow it again.

Players already get 55% of the revenue...I think that's more than any of the other big sports leagues isn't it??

Hockey needs a few of these every so often to gain perspective. They do not have the television deal that the other major sports have.

Shame to because I love hockey.

Yeah, but the last strike killed hockey on tv. Before the strike it was on ESPN. After the strike it was on Outdoor Network which I didn't get at the time. It made it all put impossible to watch anybody but your local team. They are just starting to get back on regular tv with the Sunday hockey on nbc after football season and the winter classic.

Which is par for the course for the NHL, hands down the worst run of the 4 majors.

To watch your fav team - you are stuck buying that damn $160 or so NHL tv package. Too expensive!

I dont know, but I have a hard time believing that. The Players got crushed in the last lockout.

The players were still getting the largest percentage revenue share of the 4 major sports. The league wants to give them in the 45% range, the players want to be in the 55% range. They'll settle at 50/50, but it will take a few months I think.

Yes, the players did get crushed last time around, but they were so far ahead that it still left them in great shape by comparison to other leagues.

Well, another issue is that existing contracts - agreed upon in good faith, would be worth less $. They would roll back the agreed upon salaries - like last time. That's not exactly fair.

The player's share was 54% in 2005 and climbed to 57% this last season.

Ok - broke down 3 days ago and bought a Playstation 3 and the new NHL13 hockey video game. Sad, a 40 year old man must resort to this to get his hockey fix

luckily there is still AHL hockey. We have the Texas Stars(Dallas Stars affliate), Houston Aeros(Minnesota Wild), and San Antonio Rampage(Florida Panthers) all pretty close. I know the Stars recently beat the Aeros 7-2 last week. Those games are fun to keep up with bc it is all the prospects and younger players who could've made the NHL team this year

I just can't get into the AHL. Although, if the damn lockout cancels the entire season, I may break down and go see an Aeros game.

Its nice to be able to watch TAMU hockey locally - but honestly, they are not very good. Of course - any college level hockey players that ARE good wouldn't come play at Texas A&M. They'd be at a school up north...
