A friend in my office pointed out the same article. Another one that was available to read researched how many top 18 recruits actually make an impact early on. Not that many. Considering what Howard will have when Naz, Christina and Sun leave this gal will certainly hopefully help fill some of the void. But I'm REALLY interested in seeing what happens this spring. It should be awesome.

I think the team is good enough to win a national championship this spring if they can stay healthy.

Unbelievable amount of talent.

The fact that we are talking about a possible national title is a huge step in the right direction

Harry, my batting average on picking winners and betting on them would put me in the poor house. But every once in awhile I do get lucky and see this bright light of enlightenment. The girls this year ought to be awesome, and thank God we have some MAJOR competition come to our House this spring (i.e. Florida and Georgia). If we want these girls to do well, maybe even play over their heads a little, the 12th Man better be out in force to give them the support they deserve, and be heard. I don't know if the Florida athletic website is that accurate but if it is, you may want to take a peek at their previous season's W/L listing. The number of shutouts they had was incredible. Just hope we show up to play on March 3rd, and every other day for that matter. Come on ladies, BTHO everybody.

Florida will definitely be one of the teams to beat but they did lose their #1 to the pro tour and #3 graduated. USC and of course Stanford will be up at the top as well. We should be much better than Texas and Baylor which will be a first probably ever.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong (and I'm sure someone will) but before Joey Scarvino at Baylor, women's tennis there was like their football team, was it not? The sips have the perrenial power thing going but just since I've been involved since Luby's era the sips are doing much like the Tom Landry teams, just enough to get by and almost 50% of the time not that much.

Before Scrivano Baylor was always a little behind the Aggies. The men's team was way worse before Knoll. The t.u. Women are doing only ok for such a big name school. T.u. Was one of the top programs in the nation with the previous coach.

Does anyone know what the plans are for the future of the indoor facility?

Indoor facility is on indefinite hold until; 1. somebody ups and pays for it, 2. Equistrian gets their pavilion built (and we may be behind someone else once it is), 3. the 12th Man feels like we are in a catchup mode due to our competition. Michigan and Notre Dame have excellent facilities like this but not having to compete against them for a title there's no real pressure to keep up with the Joneses. When I went up to TCU a few years ago they have an indoor facility but its constructed with the players in mind PERIOD. Very limited spectator accomdations. I'd bet Sarah Foster Gray could shed some light on most the SEC schools facilities. Until the 12th Man feels we're being short changed because of lack of facilities compared to our competiton or until the program starts making MAJOR inroads on the national title hopes scene, the indoor courts are a number of years down the road.

None of this matters until Bigfoot gives us his expert opinion.

I have no opinion on this issue

Hope the girls have a great year.

Thanks for thinking of me though!

Aggietennisfan, I talked to Sarah Foster Gray during Cotton Bowl weekend. I asked her about what the other SEC school indoor facilities were like. She said compared to Kentucky (where she started out), Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Georgia, and South Carolina we suck major hind tit. Our main drawing cards for the recruits are our overall college experience appeal, outdoor facilities, weather, and the 12th Man, which no school can duplicate. When you have to go indoors though we stink beyond measure. So "maybe" if Steve and Howard start losing some big recruits to other schools and the kids point to the overall facility makeup as a determinig factor for their decision, MAYBE then we can get off high center on the indoor facility and get it moving forward. But we drew Mankowski, Lyles, and Frank here from Florida here recently so maybe what we offer still holds enough water that we don't have to look to that ordeal to make ourselves appealing.

Thanks Signem. Sounds like we need some indoors to keep up with the Joneses' in the conference. Maybe with football doing so well some of that money might be funnelled over to tennis.

I wasn't ever a huge fan of Dollar Bill, but I enjoyed his weekly updates. Bill's disclosure on where the athletic department sat financially I took for face value because it appeared to be presented fairly fully. Eric has elected to be a little less forthcoming on the information stage so far. But he was written up somewhere (maybe it was on AggieAthletics, can't remember) where our SEC money won't start coming in until next year. Until we start seeing that cashflow we will continue to be on a tight budget. But when you look at the Sports Business Journal, http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Journal/Issues/2011/08/22/In-Depth/Budgets.aspx, and you rank the top 10 college athletic programs Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Auburn, LSU, and Georgia were all there. That's half the top 10 and when you throw in the sips as #1 and Ohio State as #2, half the top ten is pretty awesome. Kyle is going to set us back a good bit so indoor facilities continue to be #4 on the big board according to my contribution receipt I just got from the 12th Man.
