Couldn't make the game in person (had too many previous commitments that I couldn't let slide) but watched most of it on TV.
Why do we have absolutely NO ONE on TV in the US who knows how to announce a futbol game in English? It's as bad as if Bill Walton and Calvin Murphy were doing a bball game together! Former players are horrible announcers. We need a young Keith Jackson of futbol. Or bring in someone from the EPL who can speak American instead of English.
One thing the announcers DID get right is that the Mexicans are worried about Landon and Damarcus, and were able to force them into defensive roles. When we've got TWO Landon Donovans and TWO Damarcus Beasleys on the field at the same time, we'll be able to threaten the true world superpowers of futbol.
Our US players are definitely improving as a group. Landon, Damarcus, Bobby ... our sub-25 crowd ... will make us not quite but come close to forgetting Alexi, Cobi, and Marcello. Our goalkeeping has been one of our strengths over the years, but today the BEST keepers in the world are the Americans.
A sad thing is that US women's futbol has been at the top since they were given the chance to play, while our men have to recover from a century of neglect. We're slowly developing our own "American style" of play ... not German, Mexican, English, or Brasilian ... but definitively American.
