They traded Mark Fistric

To make room for the younger prospects that are quickly moving their way up. It was a food move. He was an UFA next summer anyway. Plus, he gets to go back to his hometown of Edmonton.

Fistric was pretty spare. Big body but never lived up to expecations.

If Jamie doesnt get signed this is going to be a very long (short) season for the Stars.

Been waiting too long for this. I had to resort to watching KHL and NCAA hockey. We almost certainly won't have benn until our third game though

Damn, Jagr has a 2 goal night so far....

Dang, I forgot how much more unwatchable hockey is on TV versus live. And I was actually kind of excited for the start of the season. Maybe if I stare at it long enough I will be able to see the puck, like one of those 3D puzzles in the comics.

What a great game they played tonight - fun to watch. Glad they decided to play again, especially with college football done and pro football winding down...

4 pt night for Jagr.

Jagr plays a great game if he can keep from taking any serious injuries. With this compressed season, though - he won't have much chance to heal if he does have a problem.

I was so disappointed that the Flyers couldn't resign him (they were going after several big fish, and didn't have any more cap space to make him an offer until it was too late). Anyway, they're probably gonna wish they had him back soon, I think. His constant feeds to Giroux was one reason why Giroux had so many points last year.

During the ice breaker, it was fun to sit and listen to people talk about Jagr, getting their facts wrong and making up their own stuff to fill in the blanks... But, I think they'll soon know who he is for sure.

I remember Jager when he was with the Penquins. Now I know why signed him...amazing player

Anybody else drive up for the game yesterday? I went with my buddy and the atmosphere was incredible! Jagr had an impressive debut and I'm gonna withhold any analysis or criticisms of the game and team due to the lack of prep time and being the first game of the season. Suffice it to say 40 is the new 22, sign benn and let him eriksson and jagr run train on the nhl!

Well that sucked.

Now everyone knows how to beat the Stars--stop Jagr's line and they can't score.

Yea I like GM Joe but I felt it was a little hypocritical to let him go and then bring in two 40 yr olds a season later. Keep Modano and just move him to another line. If its decreased productivity you don't like Joe get rid of Morrow who hardly contributes anything.

You do know what wasn't last season right? That was three years ago. Also Morrow is a player who is tough and has a great work ethic. He motivates the team and is a great leader for the organization.
