T&F Question re Starting Blocks

okay, I'm Old School and we fixed 5" pins.

How do these blocks work today on the synthetic rubber tracks? I see people just lift them right up after a race.

Are there small spikes that are used? How are they attached?

Yep pretty much spikes Welded on. Just stand on the blocks a bit to get em into the track. Lift right on out. Every now and then someone manages to blow the blocks out while starting. Pretty rare but pretty funny!

Thanks! I did see some small spikes sold with some blocks- I guess they have screw-ins like the shoes.

Spikes kind of similar to ones on shoes. They usually slide right out...

There have been problems with movement of the blocks. The Olympics had to do some work, even their blocks were moving about 5mm for sometime.
