The Southeastern Conference is without a doubt the strongest sports conference in the US. It is an extremely strong conference in all sports, not just football. Track & Field is just one example of the tremendous strength of the SEC. Thanks to Coach Pat Henry, we consistently have one of the very best Track & Field teams in the US.

SEC MEN & WOMEN Track & Field Championship Meet Predictions

The top three Men’s teams and the Top 4 Women’s teams are essentially equal in quality, which should result in a very competitive SEC track meet.

Predictions were based on best previous performances in each event this season
Predictions of final scores prior to any events:
Men: Ark (141), Florida (136), A&M (130)
Women: Ark (124), A&M (123), LSU (121), Florida (112)

The combine strengths of three of the top teams are nearly equal.
Predictions of total points of both Men’s & Women’s teams combined:
Ark (265), A&M (253), Florida (248)
= = =
Predictions were recalculated after Thursday’s and Friday’s results, which resulted in new [but similar] predictions:
Men: Ark (130), A&M (127), Florida (125)
Women: A&M (127), Ark (127), LSU (118), Florida (116)

Coach Henry, his staff, and the Track & Field student-athletes are doing a hell-of-a-job.

Anybody know why Ashley Collier was scratched from the 100m or why Ibukun Mayungbe was a DQ in the 400 after winning her heat?

I saw that mayenbe was reinstated for the 400 final. She had been disqualified for running on the line too many times.

The men's 100 hurt some today. Webb and Hardy were on the only wind legal heat. I believe that Hardy would have qualified if he had the last tail wind than the rest of the field.

Four individual winners today... Humphreys, Lelei, Moen-Davis and Vaughan. Hopefully a lot more tomorrow when most of the finals kick in.

Hard to predict anything with today's windy conditions. The wind screwed a lot of people today - Hardy wasn't the only one.

Glad to see Mayungbe reinstated - Coach Henry must have protested her DQ.

Was Vaughn's win in the discus expected? Nice to see 10 pts there and in the W Long Jump.

Vaughn was clutch. She had two fouls in the prelims and had to come up big on her third throw.

Vaughn and a thrower from Arizona State are the nation’s two best discus throwers. Hopefully, Shelbi will get us at least 8 points at Nationals – possibly 10 points, if she has a good day.

Saturday, the Arkansas men and the LSU women made the most progress towards SEC Championship rings.

Predictions were recalculated after Saturday’s results. Predictions based on best performances (including the SEC meet) are:
Men: Ark (153), A&M (134), Florida (120)
Women: LSU (129), A&M (119), Ark (119), Florida (99)

We are doing great but we will have to do a little bit better Sunday in order to get those CHAMPIONSHIP RINGS!!!

We have excellent athletes. Most are just freshmen and sophomores.
Saturday was a very windy day, which hindered several of the contestants.

WOMEN:
100m: Junior Ashley Collier, second best pre-meet time in the 100m, did not run. No reason given.
Hopefully, we can still get 15+ points in the 100m. Freshmen Jennifer Madu & India Daniels and sophomore Ashton Purvis advanced to the finals in the 100m.

200m & 400m: Sophomore Kamaria Brown may get us 15+ points from these two races.

110H & 400H: Senior Donique Flemings may get us 10+ points from these two events.

4x100 & 4x400: We need at least 18 points here. LSU is strong in the 4x100; Florida is strong in the 4x400.

TJ & LJ: LaQue Moen-Davis, another outstanding freshman, won the long jump and will try to duplicate this feat in the triple jump.

SP: Shelbi Vaughn won the discus easily and will try to get us more points in the Shot Put. She has to make more of her throws legit. She fouled on 4 of her 6 discus throws.

MEN:
Javelin: Senior Sam Humphreys won his fourth consecutive javelin championship by an incredible 20+ feet. However, he missed the SEC record by 4 feet. He has the best distance [by 30+ feet] in the javelin throw among collegiate throwers this year.

100m & 200m: Senior Ameer Webb may get us 10+ points in the sprints. Junior Prezel Hardy made the 200m finals but not the 100m. May be due to the varying wind conditions.

400m: Sophomore Deon Lendore should get us 10 points here.

800m: Freshman Hector Hernandez should get us from 5 to 8 points in the 800m race.

Steeple and 5000m: Senior Henry Lelei has been strong for us all season. He got us 10 points in the steeple and will try for 5+ points in the 5000m.

110H & 400H: Senior Wayne Davis will face stiff competition from Florida’s Eddie Lovett in the 110H. Sophomore Gregory Coleman will hopefully get us 8 points in the 400H.

4x100 & 4x400. Expect nothing but wins in the relays.

PV: Chase Wolfle, another freshman, may get us around 5 points in the pole vault.

Freshman Shelbi Vaughan – fantastic athlete, but desperately needs to decrease her number of foul throws. She fouled on 4 of her 6 discus throws and 2 of her 3 shot put throws.

Looking good in women's triple jump.
