ITA released the single rankings for womens tennis today. CSQ drops a notch to #5, which based upon the fact that she lost to the eventual champion, and I want all Aggies to always be rated high I can understand that. Yes that's being biased. But Lauren Embree from Florida who lost in the FIRST ROUND of the induvidual championship is rated #1 in the country???? Does anybody care to try to sort that out? The 2 time national champ comes in #2, and the gal she beat in the finals comes in #6 behind Cristina. I'm sorry that's squirrely. Plus, the champ BEAT Embree in team play. Lauren entered the championship ranked #1 and kept it by losing two straight sets 3-4, when the supposed chips were on the table.

I believe Embree was hurt. Looks like they gave her the benefit of the doubt...

Doc, I sympathize with what you're saying, and I met Lauren. Had a nice conversation with her at one of the matches, smart gal. But supposedly the computer picks the rankings and the computer has no feelings to enter into the calculation. If the #2 gal is the 2 time national champ and she's ranked in the WTA at like 160 something - hurt or not I just don't get the final ranking. I could give squat about the gal from Stanford, but if you win the contest I thought #1 was a given, it's #2 through whatever that's up for grabs. Plus, Lauren didn't just squeak by there were several points between their averages, meaning the stated formula is not accurate. Lauren, you monitor this string, what's your input.
