Texas A&M has won 5 of the last 7 National Titles in the 4X1 and placed 2nd to LSU in the two they didn't win. They set and still hold the collegiate record of 42.36 and have also the 2nd best collegiate time and 4 of the top 5 times ever. The Aggies are one of only 6 collegiate teams that have ever run under 43 seconds.

A&M has done it 22 times since 2008 when they first broke the 43 second mark. LSU is next with 19, then Texas with 8. Southern Cal, South Carolina, and Florida State have done it once each.

Edit to add boldface above

The record setting team was Krystal Carter, Porscha Lucas, Dominique Duncan, and Gabby Mayo in that order, at the 2009 NC Meet.

The #2 was Jeneba Tarmoh, Lucas, Duncan and Mayo - 42.49 sec at the 2010 regionals in Austin. That team also ran a 42.56, and this year's team of Lakiedra Stewart, Ashton Purvis, Kamaria Brown, and Ashley Collier also hit 42.56.

LSU had the previous record at 42.50.

Expect more of the same dominance with the 4 x 100 relay team next year with Jennifer Madu, Ashton Purvis, Kamaria Brown, and Ashley Collier. Then we have the incoming freshman Aaliyah Brown

Had Gabby Mayo not been injured in 2010, many believed that team would break the record at the NCAA Championship. Next year's team will have more footspeed with the addition of anybody on the first leg. Madu is most likely. They should be capable of a new NCAA record.
