will be a year older, and should go more than 1 round in NCAA playoffs.

New setter new pin hitter are necessary with the loss of Sawatsky and Patrick. Most of the defensive players graduated and out outsides were not six rotation players.

I like our possibilities if whoever sets can establish a good connection with Babers on the quick and Sullivan on the slide.

I expect the following lineup

Setter. S.Aiple
Outside. A. Lowak
Outside 2. E. Hardasty
Middle s. Sullivan
Middle 2 J. Babers
RS. A. Reasor
Libero. V. Arenas

Sorry for any misspellings working from phone

What happened to Patrick?

Update: I see she has moved to Track to focus on the high jump? If so I am glad she is still at A&M.

Patrick i believe transferred to texas for focus on track. Vaughn is too slow to play outside amd likely cannot beat out Sullivan and Babers in the middle. Used for depth is likely her role this next season

Why would Patrick have to transfer for track? Couldn't she have stayed here? Can someone confirm if she indeed transfer?

One of the problems of getting past the first round, is that it is very easy for the NCAA folks to send us to Austin to play tu for the first two rounds. That's one of the problems now that we are no longer in the same conference as they are. Whatever we like to think, they have been a women's volleyball powerhouse, and will likely be again this year. Until we get good enough to host our own regional, we are likely going to end up playing them in probably the second round in Austin.

As a side note, tu wasn't mentioned in the recruiting rankings posted on the A&M website for 2014, and our ladies were. Maybe there is hope!

Texas had not many scholarships to give out but Cat McCoy is very good defensive player but the lack numbers for this season has Texas with not a high ranking class however the verbal commitments for the next two years for them have them likely with back to back top five classes.

As for Patrick, she is no longer on the team and according to volleyball sources is planning to focus on track at Texas. If she was to play volleyball the rule would be a scholarship would have to count against vb not track. She wouldn't likely crack t.u. lineup.

I personally would have liked to see her improve her back row defense and passing to be a 6 rotation pin hitter but I wish her well.

The only way for us to avoid playing in Austin is to be seeded at least #16. Each time we did win 1 set over there.

Our ladies are up 24-17 in game 1. My video quality is terrible (bad work internet) but so far I see Lowak and Hardesty, Sullivan and Shebeneck in the game.

Final Stats if anyone is interested.

Looks like Shebeneck set the first game and Aiple set the next two. Other positions were as expected.

Stephanie Aiple got hurt in a collision with another of our players during the 3rd set of the Tulane match. She went to the locker room with a trainer and I don't think she ever returned to the court. Does anybody know how she's doing?

It looks to me that the plan was for each setter to set three sets each in a 5-1 system on day one. Not sure of the plan was for day two but the injury will prevent that.

As for the team, we looked good overall. Passing not as crisp as needed but that is expected and was for all the teams.

Inreally liked the option of back row right side attacking for Reasor which we havent had since Jenny Banse her senior year.

One thing i noticed is that the back row middle attack option was not used as much by all four teams than i have seen in the past and teams were going outside rather than middle back. I am not sure of the effectiveness of some of those decisions as the block was ready in most instances.

The game plan might have been to get more swings for the outsides from left front as I think that is something moving forward into the season we will need to be able to get a higher kill percentage from the outsides. For the last few years we have been going to the outside with Ammerman and Black typically more than the optimal percentage. I think last year we were effective in middle and setter attack option. This year we might spread the ball out a lot more but to do that the passing will have to improve to get more one on one match ups on the outside by holding the middle blocker longer.

Was hoping to see a little 6-2 setting today but with Aiple injury that was likely not occur

Darby Graff played well as the third middle would be interesting to see her on court if we do to a 6-2 system later in season assuming the Aiple injury is short term

Won all three matches at last tourney. Aiple was named freshman of the week for SEC and Hardesty was MVP of tourney. The competition level at this past tourney was average compared to what we will see in the next four matches.

Stat at wise we need to be better on the pins especially outside. If we can improve passing that may help. Sullivan in middle does really well hitting the slide attack but need to win the points when the other team commits to her attack behind the setter and we go outside with the set with a one on one matchup. Also the freshman RS would get more one on one if we can move Sullivan and Babers around more with an occasional 31 attack.

with USC, San Diego, and two matches against Florida State the true test of how we are on a national scale is about to begin.

edit to add. Just saw that we have the #23 recruit in nation coming to Aggieland. While I don't know exactly who that is because my membership has lapsed if it is a pin hitter that would be great

OMG that was an extremely exciting victory last night against #6 USC. Well worth staying up so late for.... will be VERY tired today at work. Four players with at least 14 kills, and even though her attack % was down, Lowak had her first double-double of the season. Now let's beat San Diego tonight!

I wish i had gotten a chance to see the game. It sounds like we did much better passing serve except maybe Brico's of USC. I thought that is we can control the right half of the court offensively we could play with most teams. By the box score we did that knowing that many ofnthe kills by Sullivan were likely slide attacks and it opens up the outisde more later in season. We still need a higher hitting percentage from the outside but that will increase as passing improves over the season. It seems like after running both setters out on the court in a 5-1 system we have decided on Aiple. My opinion is this is the best move but love the emotion and excitment that Shebeneck and would like to see her get some reps later in season.

Focus on winning next match against San Diego and coming back to Aggieland to prepare for a good Florida State team.

Win in four. Sounds like Reasor on the right was very effective. This is a good sign of what could be a nice run going into the SEC play. Two wins against #6 and #13 followed by a couple of wins or split against #8 Florida State would put us in great shape for potential seeding for ncaa tourney. But that is way far away to really think about

Will we be ranked next week?
Wicked Good Ag
How long do you want to ignore this user?
We should be ranked next week. I would say around 18-20 area maybe a bit higher if a couple of teams fall today in matches. If we split or win both against Florida State then say around 12-15. Lose both and maybe drop back out of poll but this weekend was a good sign.
Wicked Good Ag
How long do you want to ignore this user?
#21 is what we came in at. About right...I would have had us above #19 San Diego since we beat them but the points totals from the votes have them well ahead of us.
florida State enters at #6 so a split this weekend would do well for us. Both matches with victories we are probably around 15 or so because a lot of teams above us don't have as hard of weekend thus not likely to slip up
