Nice win, 3-0.

The Bears have given us unexpected trouble in the past, but no problem this year. Congratulations to Coach G and the team!!!

I love the yell leaders being there. Man when they are not there no one seems to want to yell and be part of the team. Pro Yell Leaders at soccer. ash

ha, the yells are very poorly timed. i can understand yelling, but yelling when your O has the ball deep in the enemys territory? come on now...

So I guess we should yell while on defense? Thats a wonderful idea considering KJ is trying to tell the defense how to set up and where to go. We are yelling at the right time. We should no be yelling on defense more talking is done then. We have scored 25 goals compared to 2 goals by opposing teams. I think we are doing ok by yelling when we are. 7-0 at home. I'd personally like to get rid of the Yell Leaders and let soccer form its own traditions. The Yells are great and all, but they're much more effective at football & volleyball, where it's more enclosed and makes sense... Ideally, I'd love to see us come up w/ our own stuff for soccer, just like baseball did, and the same direction that basketball is heading.

Examples: Doing that darn skyrocket whistlee thing when the goalies punt, that's creative. Some people have started using the Olé song that Brazil sings when we score. Yeah, blatantly ripped off, but I love it. I've started doing it now too. It's just fun. And honstely, it's a whole lot more exciting than RahRahRahTeamAWhoop.

pcag and the yell leaders have obviously never played soccer before. you dont want the yell leaders and all the other screaming fans distracting you when you are closing down on a goal... oh well, not my call.

I have one question to ask you oasis like i said earlier would you rather them yelling while we are bearing down or while our goalie KJ is telling the defense where to go?

ps I never played soccer, never even watched it till our first game this year. so what if i have or have not played I am out there showing some support for OUR team. I think the girls like us yelling have not heard anything negative from them yet. just my two cents. I am an Aggie Soccer Hooligan

Ok so the yelling point aside, I'd still like to know what y'all think of creating our own traditions. This year has started all of the fair-weather fans. The bucket brigade is the perfect example... Those fools who bring buckets have never been to a game before this year, and on top of that, only appear to show up to the Friday games. If they want to start something, at least go to all the games. If any of you have ever been to games in the previous years, you would notice huge differences. First, we never used to stand for the whole game. I don't suppose there's anything wrong with it, but at the same time, since there's a 0% chance they'll ask me to play, I might as well sit so I can stand the next day at football.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Yell Leaders first appearance at a soccer game was when we made the NCAA tourney last year. That game we started doing yells and stuff we had never done before, and I'm not a big fan. I hate how the yell leaders just came in and expected everybody to just start up w/ yells when they had never been to a single game until the tourney.
This post is just a long rant, I apologize, but the point is that I would still like to see the fans create their own traditions. Take a page from different countries, who really appreciate the sport. My favorite is England, when they play Germany: "Two World Wars and One World Cup!" That's pure genius. We need stuff like that, to create a new environment besides the same old same old that I can find at football or volleyball.

yell leaders have been coming since before the NCAAs last year. maybe not "officially," but they were there earlier last year, and maybe as far back as 2001, though i'm not sure.

until there is a reserved section for students or a designated, agreed-upon standing only section, the standing the whole time doesn't really work. some people, usually adults and families, get there very early to get the kids situated in the stands. then they can't see when a few over-zealous fish and sophomores show up 30 seconds before the game and start standing on the first row...then the people behind them have to stand up...and then the people behind them, etc. though i don't really mind, since it is great to finally have a large group of other students out there consistently, it is an inconvenience to some of the older ags and families that have been coming on a regular basis for years.

my idea is for someone, ASH, bucket brigade, yell leaders, or whoever else is interested, to go talk to byrne. he has shown that he is very interested in the success (both on the field and in the stands) of ALL sports. see how he feels about a designated standing area, yell leaders at all of the games, new traditions that have been forming lately, etc. if he doesn't have time, fine, we will just continue with how it has been this season. but eventually, with the past, current, and future success of our program, he will definitely be all over the soccer scene, and i'm sure he will be willing and able to help.

I really don't see what there is to complain about. We've give up something like 2 goals at home all year and haven't lost a game yet. Yelling on offense obviously doesn't have any bearing on what goes on, especially since theres only about 100 people who yell anyway. And I really enjoy having the yell leaders there. I think it would be pretty weak if they only showed up for football. What kind of message would it send to all our other spotrs teams if the yell leaders decided to totally disregard them and only go to the games that really matter like football?

I would like to see the fans come up with specific chants for each opponent. Not necessarily dirty or too mean, but just rude enough to be funny and disruptive. The only thing holding something like that back is that it takes some knowledge of the opposing teams or players, and most Aggie fans are still learning our own roster.

screaming our lungs out while our O has the ball is just silly to me. all im saying is that it would distract me if was on the girls soccer team (which im not). i do play soccer though and my roommate does too. he agreed with me. im just throwing in my 2 cents as well.

now chants would be another thing.

The yell leaders were a fine addition at the baylor game. One of them even provided humor when he retrieved the soccer ball but didn't know what to do with it...even started to throw it in over his head.
