Our great Aggies soccer team got outscored tonight at home. We have a very good team. However, as of lately, the ladies have not performed as well as expected. I hope they get it together, i really think they have a great team. What is going wrong?

3-2-2 last 7 games. Guess their youth caught up with them

What is up with the goaltending? 4 2nd half goals against last place Missouri. Two of Nebraska's first three shots on goal scored tonight. Our goalie was brillant in the NCAA tourney run last year. Right now, it looks like a little slump. Hopefully, we get out of it very soon.

Losing to Nebraska in soccer is nothing new.

Maybe a Bill Byrne curse? Have we beaten NU at anything since he became the AD?

We took the baseball series, won at Nebraska in men's hoops, and won in women's hoops.

Edit: Gap beat me to the us vs. Nebraska stuff.

As for the girls, they played hard. It was a very physical game, which was to be expected. You could see that they were certainly getting frustrated in the 2nd half. They weren't getting their opportunities and it showed.

As for the fans, don't hiss the referees. They called a good game out there. This is soccer, you can't card somebody for every little thing. But don't blame the refs.

sorry 04, but on two occasions we were screwed by the refs. i was on the end line both times. in the first half the ball went off the bar and came down inside the line. with 30 seconds left in the game, someone put a header on goal off of madison's cross and the nebraska keeper had half of her body on the ground in the goal while holding the ball. they didn't ruin the WHOLE game, but we were screwed out of some stuff.

I didn't see the whole game -- I had to go back to work. But the Aggies were all over Nebraska in the first half, but didn't finish. They had their chances. It does sound like Kati Jo is having a bit of a slump. The game-winning goal sounded like a fluke, but maybe she's a little too over-confident sometimes. But we still have a little time to iron out some kinks, but these couple of losses might prove costly when regional sites are announced.

TxAg731 is right about that call. As for KJ- sure shes in a slump, but she can only improve within the next two years that she plays- shes a valuable asset now and will be even more in the future. My friend said the girls just need to keep their heads up- and hes right- we still have two more games against ranked teams to prove how talented of a team we have despite being young. Hope to see y'all at the game Sunday at 1pm and hopefully some of y'all in Austin for the last regular season game against t.u.- Beat the hell girls- Another proud member of ASH!

The game was one that could have went either way. On the two nebraska scores it was poor defense, it should not be but squarely on KJ shoulders. She plays her heart out every game. If a couple shots go our way we win the game. We had two to hit the cross bar at the top that could have very easily went in, an open netter by Kat that sailed a little high. I mean any other day those would have fell. We just need to step it up a notch and show what we are made of. Lets go ladies. Gig 'em Aggie Soccer. member of ash

The refs didn't call a great game; I agree witht he above comments on the calls. They let nebraska mug the aggies too many times and finally called some things when it became ridiculous. The aggies looked a little tired...I think a little more planned substitutions, putting in some fresh legs would help. Nebraska had 4 girls sub in and that made a difference. We had two and both subs Madison Klovstad and Christina Eschavarry both did well with their fresh legs. We caught some very bad breaks on a couple of shots that hit the goal posts but still we got a little tired in an incredibly physical contest which was more physical than it should have been given the inconsistency of the refs. I think we still have an excellent shot vs. colorado!

I don't think the refs were bad at all... The Ags knew it was going to be a physical game, and the refs were letting them all play one. Nebraska had some shots on us, and we certainly had some shots on them too. For instance, I think it was Emma that just blatantly pushed one of their girls down and didn't even get called for it. If anything, the refs were at lesat fair in letting both teams beat the heck out of each other.
As for the kicks that should have been goals, I don't know. I was on the opposite end of the crossbar one, so I couldn't see it. However, it so rarely goes in, that unless the referee was in the perfect position to see it, the best bet is to not call it. The last shot of the game I don't think was a goal, the goalie had control of it w/o it going in, in my opinion.

I agree that we knew going in it was going to be physical. A little more substituting might have helped. I'm not sure whether wearing the black shirts was psychologically a great idea since that's really nebraska's idea of the black shirts, etc. It might have revved the girls up more with nebraska; who knows. I was looking for more consistency from the refs but I don't think that cost us the game. We just didn't have our heavy shot lead work out into scores and I think in the second half they made their few shots count.
