SEC Indoor Track & Field Championships, Fri-Sat (Feb 27-28)


The SEC Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held at the Randal Tyson Track Center on the campus of the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville. Arkansas officials claim that the indoor track is the "'Fastest Indoor Track in the World".

According to UA's Web site, "Fans can watch the live stream of the 2016 SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships on SEC Network+ [beginning on] Friday, Feb. 26 at 3:55 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 27 at 2:55 p.m. The meet will be re-aired on Sunday, Feb. 28 on ESPN from 6-8 p.m."

Based on best performances, this is what I have so far of all the SEC MEN's teams projected to score at least 30 points:

It will be interesting to see if any (or how many) of the Mississippi runners run both the 3000m and 5000m races.


WOMEN:

I have been too busy to calculate the projected point totals for the WOMEN. However, the Razorbacks may dominate with the Aggies possibly finishing fifth or lower.

I get the feeling Henry thinks the men will do something special here.

Looks like the meet starts off with the pentathlon at 11 AM.

I'll wager they outperform pre-meet expectations.

Madu and A. Brown qualify for the finals in the 60. On the men's side, Jenkins doesn't advance.

Bartlett makes the finals in the men's SP. In PV, we have 3 vaulters left and another tied for 7th right now with one vaulter left to enter competition.

New school record in the PV for Audie Wyatt at 18'1. Ags will finish 1-2-4 and tied for 8th.

Annie Kunz finishes 3rd in the Pentathlon with 4277 pts.

Eric Age is the final qualifier in the 400. Kerley, Grant, and Hickey fail to break 47.

Shamier Little advances to the 400m finals. Desrosiers finished 13th.

Brazier wins his section of the 800 with Hernandez finishing 2nd with a 1:46.79 - should be good enough to qualify for nationals.

Willard and Fray advance to the finals of the 800.

McSwain finishes 4th and Cragin finishes tied for 8th in the mens HJ.

Madu finishes 8th in the LJ. Jenkins doesn't advance in the men's 200 - the lane 3 draw killed him.

Forgot Will WIlliams finished 3rd in the LJ.

Hi Aggies! Razorback track fan here! The Razorbacks forums do not talk about track and field basically at all unless we win a national championship and that's only after the fact. I have found your community where you talk more about track and field and would like to join if you'll have me.

I can provide more insight on how the Razorbacks and Lady Razorbacks do since our teams compete so much at SECs and Nationals.

At the SEC meet, my expectations are that the men and women will win. The pre-meet projections showed this and the post day 1 projections seem to show the same thing.

That being said, I think the women have really not had a strong showing relative to their projections. They are definitely not out of the woods yet since their day 1 was sub-par. I think they still have enough firepower to win the meet, but just like how the Aggies pole vault was very important to them, the Lady Razorbacks' pole vault will be just as important. I think Florida and Georgia are going to make the Lady Razorbacks sweat it out.

As for the men's side, I think the men have had a pretty good showing. We had a few disappointments in our distance races, but qualifying 3 800 guys for the final was big. Our long jump was great too. I think the Aggies and Ole Miss make a push for the title, but I think the Razorbacks hold on.

I think the 800 will be a very exciting race. 1:48 was the cutoff point to making the final. I don't remember the 800 being so strong indoors for the SECs. Brazier pushing everybody to fast times helps.

In short: The Razorbacks and Lady Razorbacks have a decent advantage, but nothing they can be comfortable with yet.

In the Hept, Victor drops down to 2nd after the 60m Hurdles, but Georgia athlete Devon Williams DNFed. Ags up and Georgia down. There are 9 competitors left in the hept., so there's a chance for Martin to get a point as well.

Brad Culp for the Razorbacks is having a good showing in his first heptathlon of the year. He's been nursing an injury most of the year, but it looks like he's going to get some big points for us to offset Lindon's big showing.

Jacobus should PR too.

Madu finished 4th and Brown 7th.

Alex Riba finishes 6th in the men's mile.

Hoping Lindon Victor can finish second in the heptathlon. He broke the NCAA Indoor Day 1 record.
Georgia's senior Garrett Scanting is too strong and will certainly finish first.

Shamier finishes 2nd the 400 with a 52.15. Eric Age finished 8th in the men's 400. Taylor Ellis-Watson with a really impressive run from lane 3

They will probably get 35 to 40 points in three races - 3000m, 5000m, and the Distance Medley, twice the points of Arkansas.

I was hoping Lindon wold finish second. He was only 16 points behind Georgia's sophomore Saluri. Excellent showing.

Latario Collie in danger of not qualifying in the TJ.

Mississippi Men may get 75 points from just four distance races - the Mile, 3000m, 5000m, and Distance Medley. We need to recruit whomever their recruiter is.
