It doesn't help that this is a really weak fight card top to bottom. I'm stuck at work and can't find any good way to follow it. I think Tate and Holm are fighting now, or about to start at least. I'm pulling for Tate.

Also, Holly has no ground game and is too much of a stand up fighter. She just doesn't seem as well rounded as Tate. In MMA, you have to be good at everything and not just great at a few things (kicks and punches for Holly).

Miesha was the aggressor all fight but Holm landed the most shots. Miesha starts a takedown try that was kind of bungled but had a choke on holm. As Holm stands up and tries to flip it and reverse it, Miesha hangs on full on rear naked choke style and puts her to sleep. 4th latest submission ufc history.

If Holm wants to continue to be a contender, she needs to improve her ground game dramatically. She was winning the fight and 2 minutes from keeping the belt, and more or less gave Tate a RNC.

That was freakin awesome! Diaz with his entire face covered in blood, then with one punch just totally changes the momentum and destroys Connor.
McGregor got what coming to him after playing around with Nate so much earlier on
Too much of a jump in weight class for Conor. Diaz has no pop for a welterweight, but guaranteed he hits harder than anyone Conor has fought at 145lbs. Going to the ground was foolish.
Conor will go back to his weight class and defend the belt, Nate will go on to get wrestle ****ed by journeymen at 170lbs.
It was still a bit of a shocker, but but pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

It was dumb to go to the ground, but he was getting pummeled and could barely stand by that point.
Conor panicked a bit with the takedown. He needed to move laterally to his left and throw back. The one thing I've always liked in Conor's game is his movement and ability to control space - very rare in MMA. He looked a bit sloppy tonight, even though he was bossing a visibly larger man most of the fight.
The only guy more disappointed than Conor has to be Dana White. McGregor is the most marketable guy in the UFC, and the loss is bad business. Nate is a game fighter, but not going anywhere. Nobody pays to see Rory MacDonald wipe the octagon with him again.

Connor was in total control through the first 1.5 rounds, then got too careless and got knocked loopy and could never recover. If he hadn't been quite as cocky/reckless, he could have won the fight.
Excellent card all around. Exciting two main events, I've been watching women's MMA for many years on other promotions and NEVER thought I'd enjoy it as much as I have over the past year. Tonight only added to that.
And guess who parlayed Diaz/Tate/Sanchez wins into a nice weekend payday.
