For the Mens team. Where did A&M earn more projected points from? And where did Arkansas lose them?

Judging by today's result, it appears that our T&F recruiting has fallen off lately compared to other top SEC schools.

There were very few Aggie Fish and Sophomore Individuals who earned points today or made it into Sunday's Finals.

WOMEN
Fish:
800m - Sammy Watson, Jean Jenkins
HJ -- Tyra Gittens (1.5 pts)
Pent -- Tyra Gittens (4 pts)

Soph:
Mile -- Ashley Driscoll (1 pt)

MEN
Soph:
800m -- Devin Dixon

By comparison Men & Women who earned points today or made it into Sunday's Finals
Arkansas -- Freshmen (7), Sophomores (5) --- 26 pts
Florida -- Freshmen (6), Sophomores (5) --- 25.5 pts
Georgia -- Freshmen (5), Sophomore (4) --- 34 pts

Unfortunately, I cannot tell you that specifically. I recalculate frequently and make adjustments. When individuals do not place or make it to the finals, I delete them from my database. Obviously, some adjustments were made when individuals did better than expected or did worse than expected.

Also, I caught errors in my initial analysis that I had to correct for. I had added some points for Arkansas twice.

For example, I made an adjustment in the case of Tahar Triki. I knew he was good, but I did not have him listed as earning any points until I looked up his personal triple jump distance. He has the best personal best distance of anyone in the field, so I gave the Aggies a projected 10 points for that. That was probably being overzealous on my part.

Since I deleted those who did not place or make it to the finals, I am unable to answer you any better. Sorry.

It will be difficult for us to win this meet because we are so far behind and have little chance of picking up any extra points if we falter any along the way.

I don't think Triki is jumping today. Did not start in the long jump.

Triki did not long jump yesterday so I highly doubt he will triple.

As far as the recruiting comment, Watson was one of the top two recruits in the country on the women's side and Gittens was arguably the best H.S. senior hep in the U.S. last year (and she can HJ and LJ too). Also, remember Reed is not out there either. Once Triki is actually competing he will be a game-changer. Oladipo has changed from glide to spin in the shot in the last month so I'm sure there are growing pains there (he will be a stud in the discus). Recruiting is not as bad as yesterday's results may seem. To a certain extent, the Ags are competing with one hand tied behind their back this weekend and are doing so fairly well. This team is much better outdoors (and healthy).

Triki was projected to earn only 0.5 points in the long jump.

Hopefully, he was held out to maximize his efforts for today in the triple jump where his personal best is better than any of his competitors.

I don't see how we have a chance to win the Men's SEC Championship if he does not compete today. We also will desperately need him to compete in the NCAA Indoor Championship in two weeks where he also has a distance better than any other competitor.

Unless he is injured or there is some other significant problem, I am betting that he will compete today.
A shot at an SEC Championship is hard to turn down.

I believe with conference honest effort rule that Triki is out. He would have to get medical waiver to compete. Georgia hep Saluri listed as withdrawing after hurdles which would be huge for Hite.

He can compete later this year but once you scratch in a meet you're done competing at the meet. That is why we didn't enter Jenkins in the 100 or 200 a couple years ago for regionals on the off chance he could run in the 4x1 relay.

SEC network camera work is horrible. Show the runners crossing the finish line. It is a team championship not the Olympic gold medal race. Announcing is also horrible. Jill Montgomery is fine but Dwight Stones is horrible. Track needs to take a page from the Winter Olympics. We need our own Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir.

I'm at my first NCAA track meet and trying to figure out what's going on since I am clueless about track.

What happened to Fred Kerley?

Was that a really disappointing finish for Mylik Kerley in the 400?

Normally we would be there! We gave our tickets away due to some family events. Hated to miss but sometimes it happens.
Ed Marcinkiewicz
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I think crowd effected by late start of meet for TV. As for Mylik it was maybe a little disappointing but indoor track is very volatile in the sprints. He is more a strength runner and fairs better outdoors where he runs in his lane throughout race and does not have pace dictated to him. Our track is particularly difficult for larger runners as you only have 36" lanes and it makes it tough on larger runners. We also probably have more DQ's on our track than most other indoor facilities because of the size of lanes and effect of the bank.

I agree about the late start and all the wasted TV time. I'm probably going to leave aftet the 800 and get back to Cypress in time to watch the relays.
