I don't know a darn thing about our team, but I'm going to go to every game that doesn't take place at the same time as baseball. (Sorry, baseball comes first for me)

As far as I can tell though, we're returning a lot of impact players to our team. Any new faces to look for? And while I'm at it, why don't the softball & baseball teams schedule their home/away games opposite each other? That would be wonderful.

Will coach Jo Evans ruin ANOTHER good softball team?

Every coach around the country knows Jo's MO....she gets a runner on, lays down the sac bunt to move the runner to second, and than hope the other batters behind her hit the ball. That is the way she plays the game and always has. Some will say "That's how you play softball" and I think it sucks. It hasn't worked for her yet, why should it start now. Other teams in the Big 12 DON'T play like that and they win, i.e. Texas, Nebraska and OU. And until she finds a pitcher that won't give up the long ball in the last inning to lose the game, she will never be any better than 4th or 5th in the conference.

You're brutal, man! What's your background in softball? Frankly, I think Jo does a pretty good job; I would like better obviously, but I think our program is a national level group....

Answered my own question: girls win 2-0 & 5-0 over SFA.

3-0 so far...

Okay ... after 14 games, the softball team is a sickening 7-7.

Looks like coach Evans has already RUINED another good softball team ... this time early in the season.

Hello Bill Byrne ... please add Jo Evans to your "going to fire" list along with coach Watkins.

YES ... the "something" needs to be firing Jo Evans.

Jo Evans ... a coach who has stagnated a once proud program that won three NATIONAL championships in the 1980's.

Jo Evans ... a coach who can NOT recruit the best high school pitchers in the state of Texas (they are going instead, to tu).

Jo Evans ... a coach who is happy with the way her program is going ... which is a DISTANT 4th behind tu, ou and Nebraska.

Melvin Watkins is FINALLY gone ... let's hope Evans will ride out of College Station on the same bus with him.

Could Jo do better? Probably, but so could anybody else for that matter, in any sport. Could she recruit better? Maybe, but then again, when we won all those national championships back in the 80's NOBODY is the state of Texas had a big time softball program like we did (Bob Brock deserves credit for that; on the other hand, what has Brock done at SHSU, if he was such a good guy here?). As for recruiting, yes, she might do a better job, but again, every DIV. I school in Texas has a softball program (maybe SMU doesn't but I am not sure) and just like in football, we are all going after the same caliber of players and we aren't going to get everyone we chase.

Hey, could the lady do a better job? Yes, but I am sure you could in your profession too. Her teams are competitive, they challlenge for titles and the program is respected, and that my friend, is something Brock lost toward the end of his tenure here and doesn't have at SHSU (his name is brought into this because you are comparing Jo's accomplishments to teams from the 80's, which were all his. Remember, he had some on the field and off the field issues to deal with).

Let me state something else. My daughter is a heck of a pitcher, and I wouldn't let her go to any other program in Texas except maybe Baylor (besides ours). When the time comes, she will play for Jo, if Jo offers, which I am sure she will. Not Brock, not Texas, not UH, not Rice, not UTSA and not TT- TAMU and Jo Evans and that is because I respect the lady.

I sincerely hope your daughter plays for Texas A&M and becomes the best pitcher in the Big 12.

... I just hope she gets to play for a better coach than Jo Evans ... that's my opinion.
