I would have liked to see them play doubles since we appear to be tinkering with our lineup. t.u. is pretty tough at doubles, so some extra play with our new matchups would have been helpful.

Nice win for the men. I think Tech has improved, and we were playing under tough conditions. We will need to work very hard this week to get ready for Austin. Maybe some good things are still in the works for this team.

aggiedoc- just so you know, I went to vegas with you, so you know who I am

does anyone really understand why you dont play the #1 doubles team in the nation together? doesnt seem to make sense to me. you should play your strongest lineup, and that seems to me as the strongest lineup. For some reason, cass does this it seems like every year, and I think it causes a stir with other coaches.

Yea bigfoot 10s, I know who you are...I've been keeping up with all your posts.

Here's my thoughts on the doubles. It's obvious that we struggle in doubles. We haven't had a solid doubles lineup since 2001, where we could almost count on the doubles point every time. This year, even with the #1 doubles team in the nation, we've still lost the doubles point 7 or 8 times. What's the good of having the #1 doubles team in the nation if your #2 and #3 doubles teams can't win. I think Cass is trying anything he can to try to fix this situation. We aren't going to get very far the rest of the year if we have to win 4 out of 6 singles matches every time.

I can't necessarily think of the best doubles teams for us because I'm not real confident in about half of our team's doubles ability. My thought is that Cass is taking our best two doubles players on the team, spliting them up, and hoping to spark something, with the chance that we can win some doubles points. I know that from watching us play Baylor, that our old lineup wasn't gonna cut it. While you would like to, you can't always assume Lester and Ante are going to win every match; and our 2 and 3 haven't shown they can beat top teams yet.

All I know is I sure miss the days of 2001, where all 3 of our doubles teams were ranked in the top 40 and we rarely lost the doubles point.

yeah it was nice in '01 and before. by the way, did you hear about my run-in? Im sure aggie11 told you.

I agree that the doubles isnt the best right now, from the little bit that I keep up with the guys these days, because I just forget. But you have to admit that it is pretty crappy, not for us but for other teams and players, that we have the best team in the nation, we dont play them together for a month, and yet they are going to be at nationals and will be all americans. how much is cass switching up the lineups for dubs to try and win? has he tried all combos other than splitting up ante and lester?
