1 Tiger Woods, USA
2 Vijay Singh, Fij
3 Ernie Els, SAf
4 Davis Love-III, USA
5 Mike Weir, Can
6 Jim Furyk, USA
7 Padraig Harrington, Ire
8 Phil Mickelson, USA
9 Stuart Appleby, AUS
10 Retief Goosen, SAf

I guess based on these rankings. Harrington is at the top of the list. Although if you include the length of futility, Mrs. Doubtfire is up there (and he has no shot of getting one).

id say darren clarke, padraig is a great golfer but hasnt won anything compared to some of Clarke's WGC championships. Clarke will be one to watch at The Open and PGA this year.

You can't just look at THIS year's list and decide. You have to take a comprehensive look and see what's there -- at least 3-5 years.

Based upon the way they are playing RIGHT NOW, I'd say Charles Howell, III. Clarke has 11 international victories, but only 2 PGA (1 match play). Howell already has 1. Howell has finished top 14 on the last 2 year's money lists, so he is potentially a rising star.

If you are looking for career acomplishments for current players, look at Brad Faxon and Bob Tway (8 wins), Kenny Perry (7 wins), Stuart Appleby (5 wins), Jay Haas (8), Shigeki Maruyama (12 total), Fred Funk (6), and perhaps Rocco Mediate (~8 total wins).

Sergio might deserve consideration, but a few guys above actually have more total wins than he does, and he only has 3 in the PGA. Jesper Parnevick has 5 PGA plus another 9 internationally, so he might be it.

Is there anyone I missed in the 15-20 range?

91 i agree with some of your list but Clarke is a much better player than Howell. Charles has more potential but is still young while Clarke has won around the world including 2 events that had the world's top players in the field. Howell's victory was against a weak field if i recall right. Clarke has proven himself in international competitions and preformed well in a few majors.

Mickelson wasn't tops on the list because of tour wins, but was tops because of over 40 appearances in the majors without a win. Obviously he became eligible for many of those majors because of his wins, but the wins themselves weren't the cause for the label.

So, anybody have an idea who's tops on the majors without a win list?

Bana: sorry, but that's just wrong. Either in the same sentence, the sentence before, or the sentence after the phrase "best player to never win a major," the speaker brought up Mickleson's 20+ tour victories.

The reason the question is difficult now is that it wasn't the least bit difficult prior to last Sunday, and the main reason was the number of tour wins. I'd be willing to bet there are guys neither of us has ever heard of that played 40+ majors without a win. I'm sure Faxon, for example, who joined the tour in '84, has played more than 40 majors. Probably a lot more. His tour victories have been spread out over a decade, and he was on the Ryder cup teams in the mid-90s, so he obviously won some money (and thus qualified).

I do stand corrected on Tway. Missed that PGA win.
