Good to see us finally win the doubles point. However, Dakki does NOT need to be playing doubles for us. He looked really bad yesterday. Cass watched him play the last half of the doubles set, so hopefully he sees the fact that Zach should be playing in his place.

Otherwise, good job on the guys getting out there and taking care of business. It's good to be the #2 seed in the Big 12 tourney and not have to face Baylor until the finals.

Emotional victory for Khaled playing in his last regular season match. He trailed 0-3 in the third set, but fault back in his typical fashion (never giving up) and won the third 7-5.

Good solid win by the guys. Very pleased to finally get the doubles point. Lester and Ante continue to dominate at one and two. Dakki hung in there at three and another very solid day for Bryan. Maybe we are getting number six shaped up. Great win for Khaled. Brett was playing a good player at number five and he continues to impress as a solid first year player. Zach seems to continue as the sentimental favorite. Tim alluded to the fact that we might have one more doubles combination left in the deck. It will be interesting to see when (or if) it emerges.

I'd like to see Brett and Marvin back together for doubles. Then Khaled and Zach together for the 3rd team.

Dakki has shown me nothing in the last two doubles matches (at t.u. and vs. OSU) that gives me any confidence in him being able to help win his doubles match. Numerous times on Saturday, Marvin would come up with something big only to have Dakki lose the next point on some bad mistake.

I hope the change happens up in Norman and we stick with it the rest of the season.

once again, why have another combo in the deck? thats stupid, sorry. Theres no reason not to play the lineup the way I suggested in another post, lester and ante at 1 (obviously), marvin and brett at 2 (they have played together and have a good record), and khaled and zach at 3. Why is this so hard? it has worked, why fix something that isnt broken?

That line-up would also put Khaled on the shelf. I will be interested to see if that happpens.

It would be a surprise to see Bryan in the doubles lineup since he has barely played at all for us. I just can't imagine Cass removing Khaled from the rotation, simply because of his leadership and the intensity he brings to each match.

i think the lineup with cook/ante, rolle/joelson, khaled/malmgren sounds to me like the best on paper, i still would love to see rolle/joelson at three and khaled/malm at 2, b/c it would make the lineup very lethal. Either way..I agree with Dakki not playing...he doesnt seem to have been a solid contributor in doubles.

I think the debate over who plays where in doubles is an area that the coaching staff has been evaluating all season long. I believe whatever the line-up for the Big 12 tourney should also be the intended line-up for the NCAA's. There has been so many combinations over the last few weeks that many of the players are trying to find where they fit into the mix. I think we are solid at #1 and Ante and Lester are as close to a sure thing as we have. To change that would be a big shake up. At #3, I like the energy that Khalid brings to the team and playing with Brett on Saturday they were able to come from 3-6 to win it 8-6. Maybe they should stay together at #3. It seems the questions are who plays #2. That affects who filters down to #3. I think a solid #1 and a stable #3 is not a bad thing. You only need to win two to get the doubles point. Can Marvin and Zack play #2? I think at this point coming off getting the doubles point against Okie St. I would not change the line-up too much. The way the season has gone in doubles, getting that point has been rare.

Good points. I think it doesnt matter who we play in a regional as long as we keep playing the way we have lately.

to do a doubles lineup going into conference and nationals without putting your best team at #1 is just plain idiotic. there, I said it. Im sure cass will find out I said that, but I dont care. the whole reason you play doubles is to build a partnership between two guys so that when it comes to crunch time and big matches, they know how each other play, and they play as ONE. The fact that you keep switching up guys is stupid. that means that no one ever gets in a rhythm. Then you get to big 12 and you have new doubles teams and then they dont have any success because they havent played together enough. look at the pro level, woodforde and woodbridge, bhupathi and paes, flach and seguso, leach and pugh. They dont switch up teams, and thus there is a lot of success. Your doubles lineup should be set by the middle of the season, at the latest. Then you are ready to go when it gets to the big matches, and your teams play as ONE, not individuals that are thrown together at the last minute. The numbers dont lie, as Ive said. it should be lester and ante, marvin and brett, and malm and khaled. End of story.

unless we finish in the top 16, we wont host, as I understand it. although stranger things have happened. they might let us host a regional just because of the tennis center. it has happened before that the 2 seed in the region hosted.
