Since most of us are wishing the weekend were here, we might as well start looking forward to the regional tennis matches. How do you see the men and women doing? Is it Sweet 16 or wait until next year?

I guess I will go first. Men beat Alabama and then knock off VCU and they make the round of 16. The women hosting the tourney will make a big difference and they will also advance.

I concur with your predictions, and if they both play thier best, (ie. women vs. tx in tourney, men vs. rice at home) I believe both teams have a chance to reach the field of 8.

I think the women will advance to the Sweet 16, but the men will have a hard time beating VCU at home. Cass's crew will have to play totally mistake free to win that one. I believe it will be close, but I think the VCU home court advantage will be too much. Sorry guys...just my opinion.

40luv: What do you know about VCU that you are so sure about the three players loosing their singles matches? I can see the argument for lossing the doubles point because of the past performances this season, but the predictions of the singles losses surprise me. Do you know something about the matchups?

I may be overly optimistic, but I think A&M has played a tougher schedule and that will give them an advantage during critical times in these matches. I also believe that the A&M name brings tradition of quality play and that puts more pressure on the opponent. I guess we will see for sure in the next couple of days. I think this team is very talented and I hope that talent shows up on the court this weekend.

I looked over the player match ups that are likely to happen, I also have watched almost every match this season. So based on observations and analysis, I made a prediction, more or less to stimulate some dialog.

I too hope they win, but Lester has not been playing well, Dakki has been unable to win important matches and Brett has been on a losing streak as well.

Lester may be thinking ahead to his trip to China on the USTA all star team, it is likely to be Dakki's last match and Khalid as well so they will have that on their minds.

Therere is the pressure to get to the round of 16 for the 5th straight year, another factor.

So we will see how it goes, one match at a time.
Lets hope they don't look past Alabama to the round of 32.

They are also still bummed by the Big 12 match with Baylor too. And the lack luster 12th man support. The 12th man was watching the ladies match.

Plus, when I make these predictions, they prove me wrong, which is what we want.

Why do you say that Lester hasn't been playing well? I'll agree that he didn't play well against Dorsch, but he's only had 2 losses since mid-Feb. and both were to Dorsch. I'm more confident in him winning than Ante just because he has a more consistent game.

Personally, I think we can pull it off. We'll probably lose the doubles point, but I think we can pull of 4 of 6 singles matches to win.

I have faith in the men, they deserve and want to win and go that far, and i think they will.

Keep the faith. We won the doubles point against Alabama and are struggling in 4 o the 6 singles matches. Wooten and Ante are taking care of business.

Lester may have won quite a few matches, but he has been struggling in the past 4 matches and played awful against Baylor. It is not the won lost record you have to rely on, it is the quality of play that indicates a player in a slump or funk or whatever.

The Ags need to rally here, and quickly!!!

Proaggs....I'm glad I was wrong too. I'm proud of the women for making their first sweet 16...I think they have a shot at the elite 8...but it will take a great effort on their part. The men have a shot at the round of 8 as well. After beating VCU, anything is possible! GO AGS!!!
