No wonder LSU let him go so easily. According to TigerForums.com, he was making around $167k. According to KBTX tonight, his new salary is about $230k. I don't remember the exact numbers - my brain started to shut down for the day about 40 minutes ago...

So what if he makes $230000 or whatever? If the guy wins meets and upgrades the program, he is worth every nickel.

BTW, how much do the assistant FB coaches make?

I bet he made a lot of other track coaches around the country very happy. Great job by our athletic director.

Damn straight Raven, That sends a message loud and clear to other coaches.

Hell A&M was paying Nelson $130,000 and getting virtually nothing in return, pay a winner 230,000 and let's get some NCAA championship banners on the wall.

When in the heck is Johnson going to retire?
Please don't tell me he is going to be around for another year?

A&M was paying Nelson 74k, not 130k. This was a great hire.

I would not say LSU let him go easy. Though it won't be made public, Bertman did offer him around 240,000 to stay.

This was not about money, it was about wanting to move on and get closer to friends and family and a new challanege. I can respect that.

I do not believe that Ted only made 75K. That is absurd if it is true.

the question is...where did the money come from if budgets are so tight?
