Texas NIL laws made her go out of state

This one hurts. Her commitment had natty repeat written all over it.

Absolutely - hoping we add another piece or a repeat will be difficult. Not impossible, but difficult.

It sounds like Liv had trust issues. I don't want to harp on her or fault her in anyway she seems like a nice girl. But if the issue was she needed absolute certainty before committing then in reality she didn't trust A&M to keep its word. That's a real shame because Mark did everything right and legal to try to get her on campus. The money was there. Oh well no point in lamenting or complaining about this, we move onto the season.

Apparently US and OSU had higher NIL offers than Duke, but Duke was able to put it in writing like she had needed. She's a one year rental

"She's a one year rental."

This is what NIL is doing to college sports, darn it.

to be fair tennis, basketball and any pro sport not governed by a U.S. based entity has always had 1 year rentals. For instance someone earlier mentioned Patrick Lipton on the men's team was several years back. Plus with tennis it's even less impacted than other sports because the amount of international students that play tennis and the fact that they can't earn NIL based n their VISA most likely. All NIL has done for tennis is allowed a select few american players who might have gone pro to play some college tennis with their prize earnings being substituted by NIL.

So we got played. I'm not upset, it was worth a shot. At least she announced it with some time before the new semester, and I have no belief that the even though the transfer window closed last week that it has any limit on actual transfers anymore.

But let's focus on the important things in life. This Christmas season may you be comforted knowing that the World Series MVP doesn't have his new ring yet, but he can spend the family holiday admiring his cousin's NCAA championship ring.

Mary Christmas and Avery Happy New Year!

i may be wrong, but i think the transfer window closing just means that new players can no longer enter, not that if you're already in it you're no longer able to transfer.
