Defensive breakdowns, missed opportunities, lackluster play, subs and more subs.... All in all a very disapointing performance by our young Aggies. Actually, the freshmen played well. I'm wondering since when did Emma Smith get so buried on the depth chart. She was 2nd in scoring for us last year. Don't like G's offensive alignment, think he uses it because he has no confidence in his forwards. And where's Kat. She was supposed to be the second coming - the answer to all of our offensive woes. Come on coach, lets straighten things out before this weekends East Coast trip.

Our back line didnt play well at all tonight. They let waay too many balls through and would never mark up the girl on the backside.

On the offensive side we looked lazy. Noone looked too excited to play tonight...and noone would follow through with a give and go.

Just my two cents...

Defense played sloppy.......After the first two goals the O looked like they started to give up and took some bad looks at goal. Ball control was a little poor too. The lady Ags started off very well taking several shots and a couple were on goal I believe. Clemson out hustled the Ags too and played more aggresively. This didn't look like the same team that played Michigan on Friday.

Also does anybody know how Emma is. She took a hell of a hit. That play just had trouble all over it when she challenged that keeper.

Clemson had the better team. They were quicker to the ball and there seemed to be 12 on the field all night. There decision making was much better and the run of play went there way all night. Plus Clemson's two center backs were very dominant, winning everything all night. I thought if we could have gotten one of our chances in the early part of the second half to find the net, we would have seen a better match. We will regroup and be ready for texas Sept 10.

I'm more concerned with Princeton and Penn this weekend. They will give us problems. Clemson looked far superior to us. I know that it's early but this talent ladden team is missing something. Someone needs to step up and be a leader. Really concerned with our defense, and our midfield and forwards.

Well at least there is no concern at Keeper.

To 1876er, have to agree with you when you say "poor ball control", "gave up", "out hustled" when describing tonights match. I can't remember a G team that this could be said about before. I would like to take exception to this but I saw it too. They just didn't play and that's inexcusible.

Hopefully coach G can use this game to light a fire under these girls butts, cause something big was missing tonight.

For a reference point. Tx lost to Clemson 1-0 and defeated Michigan last night 4-1.

I thought it was a pretty poor performance all around. I thought we were doing well until midway through the first half. We had the most chances and were clearly domintating. I thought the turning point was when G subbed and had 6 freshman on the field at the same time in cluding 4 in the midfield. I know these freshman are heralded but like any other sport there is a required growing period for them to adjust to the pace and quality of play of Aggie Soccer. As for Kat and Emma who knows. Maybe they came in out of shape or maybe G sees something in practice that he likes between the players on the field. I don't think we can question his decision making.

Hopefully they can turn it around on their East Coast tour.

The team apparently didn't play much better on the East Coast tour. Lost to Princeton and barely beat a soft Penn team. I didn't see much rhythm in the team the two games I attended. Madison looks good at forward. Midfield looks a bit slow. Defense did well the first part of Clemson game, and then looked disorganized. Maybe too many freshmen on the field at one time. Also don't like the long 50-50 balls out of the back all the time. Ags need to play with more control. Hope the coaches get their lineup fine-tuned before Friday's match vs. Longhorns. BTHO TU!

The defense plays an off-sides trap, but they seem to get beat too often -- which leaves Kati Jo facing a forward 1-on-1. Kati Jo is good, but even she'll get beat in repeated matchups like that. They need to get the defense on the same page and start building offense from the backs or midfield.

I also thought Clemson was a much better ball-handling and passing team. The Aggies seem to kick to space, but not necessarily to where a teammate can get it first or they kick the ball right at standing players who don't seem to trap the ball well and lose it. Clemson made crisp, accurate passes, but they were also better at trapping the ball. If the ball bounced off a Clemson player, it almost always went to another Clemson player.

Clemson also had players make plays with the ball. The Aggies do that on occasion, but not very often. Carrie Berrend had some nice moves before setting up Echeverry a couple of matches ago, but that's one of the few plays I've seen an individual Aggie make with the ball that resulted in a goal.
