It's time to go! Big meets are upon us and this weekend we are in for a good one. Much of the conversation indoors was our lack of competition at meets. This time it's time to line up against some big dogs and go chase some huge marks this weekend in Baton Rouge.
It's lined up to be a huge weekend as it's time to roll out our big guns across many events and piece together some loaded relays in the 4x100 and 4x400. Our women's 4x100 will consist of Anya Jackson, Camryn Dickson, Aysha Shaheed, and Jasmine Montgomery. our men's 4x100 will be Keanu Jones, Matthew Maldima, Blake Holland, and David Foster. That women's relay should be blazing on the track together and I expect we see a low 43 or even a high 42 already. I'm curious how low of a 39 second relay our men can go. I'm also really excited to see David Foster who's also expected to run the 100. He is an exceptional sprinter.
Also making their Aggie debut will be Chinecherem Prosper Nmamdi. A Paris Olympian javelin thrower for Nigeria. He transferred from Baylor who has 3 top 5 finishes at nationals. Our javelin duo of him and Sam Hankins can be a huge difference maker for this team this postseason. I'm really excited to see how our field events do. We'll have indoor national qualifiers, Lily Carlson in the pole vault, and Morgan Davis and Machaeda Linton in the long jump. Henry Zimmerman will make his outdoor debut in the hammer throw.
A great to look forward to will be the women's 200 where we will have Camryn Dickson and Jasmine Montgomery in lanes 4 and 6 of the fast heat running against some of the fastest in the nation. Both the men's and women's 1500 will be exciting. Debora Cherono and Sophia Bendet will be in the fast heat of the 1500 as will Peter Narumbe, Ondrej Gajdos, and Youssef Asslouj on the men's side. Ja'Qualon Scott and Jaiya Covington will be racing the 100/110 hurdles. Scott won't be making his 400 hurdle debut this weekend.
I expect this to be a huge weekend for the Aggies! This meet will be competitive and produce many top 48 regional marks! A much better meet than that overplayed non competitive one going on in tu. Let's get after it this weekend!!
