Don't forget, Aggie softball will play five games this weekend at Collins Park (on Cyrpesswood, east of Steubner-Airline) in the Spring/Klein Fall Classic.

For those of you who don't know, this is top notch college softball. TAMU, tu, TT, BU, OU, OSU from the BIG XII are all scheduled to play, though not against each other. A total of 30 schools are entered, with games starting this evening (Friday 15th). Saturday and Sunday are full days, with games going on at five adjacent fields and some games at Klein HS about one mile away.

Admission is normally just $5-10 bucks for a two day pass, with girls wearing their uni's normally getting in for free.

Ladies beat Nichol's State 8-6 in 1st game, then beat ULL 2-1 behind superb pitching by Amanda Scarborough, Don't know what happend in 3rd game.

Ladies play at 11:00 vs. USM and then at 1:00 vs. UTSA on Sunday.

Aggies go 5-0 with victories late Saturday over Navarro JC and then on Sunday, beating Southern Mississippi 7-2 (?), finishing up with a 7-5 win over UTSA. In the UTSA game, the ladies jumped on top 1-0, then fell behind 2-1 after a massive HR hit by the UTSA catcher. Eventually, UTSA got on top 5-1 going into the bottom of the 7th, before TAMU rallied with six runs to win 7-5. Freshman Amanda Scarborough capped the rally with a two run double down the left field line, after fouling off 6-7 pitches in a row. A large contingent of Aggie parents and supporters were on hand to lend support to the team.

In other games of note, BU played very well, with one of their players hitting a towering two run homer off a Cougar High pitcher over the right field fence at Spring-Klein. For those of you who have been to SKGSL, the ball cleared the scoreboard on field two and landed approx. 20 feet behind the fence in the trees. I would estimate that poke was at lest 255-260'. Texas looked strong with some inconsistent defense though. OU is tough top to bottom, in and out. I watched TT play some, but not much, and even though they have some neat looking uni's, their quality of play wasn't up to that of the other BIG XII South schools. Out of conference, ULL looked strong as did USM in spots. Texas St. looked very good, as did UTSA and surprisingly, McNeese.

Those you who didn't go missed some good softball....
